      The blind man turned his head towards the starship purser.

      Your name old timer? the starsailor had asked. The purser's tone and inflection, his simple scent, the weight of his steps, and a dozen other minute cues painted the picture of a competent man, solid, well-muscled, a little above average height, confident. Presently, somewhat peeved.

      Fogerty. The blind man turned his entire body towards the purser. My name is William Fogerty.

      MacArthur, he thought. MacArthur was the starsailor's name.

      And you say that you heard footsteps moving down this hallway just before, and again right after, the alarm sounded?
