    PREFACE

As a child growing up in different countries and cultures, moving to a new place every three to four years, i dreaded having to leave once i finally got used to a place. The transition was always made easier when family and friends would excite me about the next destination with local stories and legends of the place. Perhaps fostering some sort of curiousity and familiarity will sometimes be just the right thing to make a young child a bit less scared of what is next.

Now that i am a father, i really wanted my child to become more curious and fascinated with not only Singapore, but also whole asian region. While i of course would love to start him on the path of the children's classics too, i did not want him to forgot his roots and the magic in everyday things here.

This short story book, is a compilation of cheesy stories i would sometimes tell him to get excited about trying a local food or make him curious about certain things here. I sometimes tell this to the children of colleagues
