About this ebook

Raising little people is one of the toughest jobs on earth. Between the mess and the chaos of loving and teaching our kids, it's hard to find time to learn and grow ourselves. We can feel like we are trapped in a never-ending cycle of wiping boogers and washing clothes. But what if we are actually supposed to be learning from our littles? What if the lessons we so desperately need to hear aren't found in self-help books and seminars and Sunday Schools, but in the ordinary, every-day tending to our children?

In "Lessons In Loving Littles", mothers of young children will find that you can learn extraordinary things through ordinary life. When we take time to slow down and listen, we will find God is speaking through the spills, tantrums and training wheels. Find the beauty in motherhood when you embrace this season of loving littles. About the Author

    First Things First…

I am not a parenting expert. There, I said it. As I sit here typing this, I currently have a nine, seven and five-year-old. I have been a parent for almost a decade (what the what?!) and most days I still feel like I know as little…or less…as I did when I began my motherhood journey almost 10 years ago. Friends, this gig is HARD. But it is also beautiful, and I want so desperately for other moms to see the beauty that I have found when I have slowed down long enough to let God speak to me and teach me through loving my littles.

In my time as a mother, I have been a working mom, a stay-at-home mom, an adoptive mom, a homeschool mom, a ministry mom, and most recently, a mom raising littles in a foreign country. I have also been a tired mom, a stressed mom, a worried mom, an insecure mom and a mom desperately looking for a lifeline in the mist of raising these tiny humans. I am thankful for the moms I have been privileged enough to journey with through this season of loving littles. Through transparent friendships, I realized that I was not alone, and that there was much purpose in this season where I often felt like I was just treading water. Through taking the time to really lean into life with my littles and embrace it for what it is, I have learned so much about life through my precious babes.

This book is simply a collection of writings, lessons, thoughts and musings that I have compiled from over the past 5 or so years of blogging on multiple sites (hence the different ages of my kids in certain chapters), plus a few new pieces I wrote specifically for this book. I wanted to compile it all in a format that would be easy to share with others in order to be a blessing and encouragement to moms in the middle of raising little ones. If this book has found its way into your hands, I can’t promise that you will walk away a profoundly different person after you read this, but perhaps you will feel a spark of hope ignited in your heart knowing that SOMEONE GETS IT and that there truly is beauty in the messiness of motherhood. So grab a cup of coffee, curl up in your favorite spot, let your guard down and let’s see what kinds of extraordinary things God can teach us through the ordinary business of LOVING LITTLES.

    Hangry

So, maybe it’s just me, but I feel like my kids eat all stinking day long. We can literally get up from the table, having just eaten a meal, and not five minutes later someone is saying, I’m hungry! I can’t tell you how many times I have gone grocery shopping, and just a day or two later, we already have empty containers and boxes because LITTLES EAT EVERYTHING. My husband and I have a locked filing cabinet with a drawer where we keep our secret stash of sweets because, heaven knows, if the kids knew where they were, they would be gone in .05 seconds.

My littlest is usually still in the process of scarfing down his lunch or dinner and with cheeks full of food will ask, Is this enough to have something else? Seriously, kid? You still have food in your mouth and on your plate and you’re already thinking about what
