Daydream Adventures - Jace Townsend
Kidnapped
Chapter One
Doctor
Why don’t you go outside and shovel the snow off the driveway? Remember that we’re going over to my parent’s house for dinner - and wear your new overcoat, the one I got you for your birthday,
said his wife, Doris.
Yes, dear.
Harold grudgingly arose from his comfortable easy chair and went to the hall closet to get the garish plaid overcoat. Due to his habitually stooped shoulders and downcast head, it seemed at least three sizes too large for his small frame. He donned the hideous coat and matching hat, complete with earflaps and a pair of high top rubber boots. Harold never fastened the metal boot clamps. He liked the jingling sound as he walked. It made him think of a cowboy with spurs.
A thick blanket of silent white greeted him as he stepped outside to begin the assigned shoveling. The blustery cold November morning sent a chill down his spine, despite his attire. His life was going nowhere.

The more Harold thought about his lot in life, the more difficult the shoveling became. After a few passes with the oversized shovel, a small mountain of snow piled up. While the blood throbed through his veins, he stopped to stare at the mound and beads of perspiration formed on his narrow brow. His black horn-rimmed glasses fogged up when the dreaming began.

You realize, of course, that you are on top of a mountain five miles from the hospital."
Well, I can’t begin to operate until the patient’s condition is stabilized, but I expect that to occur at any time now,
said Harry.
Yes, I’m sure you are correct, Dr. Twiddle, but do you think you can save him? Shouldn’t you be nearer his bedside? After all, he is the world’s leading philanthropist, and has major connections within the medical community.
Harry turned a knowing eye to his skiing partner and smiled. Not to worry, Dr. Kleindinks. I will be there to operate and save the patient’s life.
Harry’s cell phone chimed. He answered by the second ring. I’ll be there in a few minutes. Have the patient prepped and ready for surgery.
Harry turned to Dr. Kleindinks. "Duty calls, and I believe it is time to do a little downhill
