      Oh, God... I really, really don’t want to do this, Sara said, flopping heavily into the chair behind her desk.

      What’s the big deal? You knew stuff like this was going to happen with this job.

      Sara glared at her longtime friend Peyton through narrowed eyes. Sara had always been shy... borderline recluse, really. She’d taken the job with the real estate planning authority on Peyton’s urging, but she’d found it difficult to be in confrontational situations. Peyton usually handled these types of conflicts, but since she was going out of town that afternoon and wouldn’t be back for two weeks, Sara was the only one who could manage it.

      What if they cause trouble? Sara asked.

      What kind of trouble? You think the big, bad bikers are going to beat up a woman? Peyton chuckled. Get real. It’s time you grew a backbone, anyway. Just get it over with and then you won’t have to worry about it anymore.

      Sara sighed and thumbed through the paperwork in the folder on her desk. There was no way she could get out of this. A local biker gang called The Reaper’s Riders had built an extension onto their clubhouse without getting the proper permits, and it was her job to deliver the news that they had to tear it down or face serious fines on top of the city coming out to demolish it themselves.
