    Beatrice Stewart is a poet and author of The Valley of Bones forthcoming from Dorrance Publishing. She has worked as a police officer, an adult education teacher, administrator of a life skills school for disabled individuals, and a counselor for drug and alcohol users. She participated in Hands Across America in 1986 and was a sponsor in Al-Anon for many years. She lives in Texas with her rescue animals, two dogs and a cat.
