Summary
Key AXA is a fictitious, small, flat, coral island situated in an archipelago which includes Anguilla, Sombrero and the sixty British Virgin Islands and cays which, like itself, are British Overseas Territories.
Like the others, it was formed some 130,000 years ago as a result of global warming which raised the sea level by 25 feet.
In Key AXA, ever since its creation, schools of bait fish attract the gamut of predators - from barracuda in shallow waters to a foot long bonito, each with its relative appetite and common voracity.
However, since it became a separate territory in 1980, human predators from without have descended upon it like hawks; and, others from within have risen up, multiplied and become pretty sophisticated.
The following synopses describe each type.
A special purpose company devises a perfect plan to bilk millions of taxpayer money through a mortgage scheme.
Rip off real estate agents make huge windfalls exploiting trusting, unsuspecting islanders.
Inward investors flock to the island with their PONZI, land grabbing and other schemes.
Power barons find a creative way to land bank toxic loan collateral that guarantee huge windfalls.
Meanwhile, the administering power is the biggest threat of all! Like a calculating cat, it stalks and weakens Key AXA before planning to go in for the kill.

Chapter 1 - Pelican in the sprats!
A brown pelican, in an eye-catching nose dive, shatters the silence of the calm, turquoise inshore waters with a sea spraying splash that sends the huddled schooling sprat fish scampering for safety in all directions, there being no real place to hide in the reefless sound.
To the elderly tourist couple who has stopped to ask Jack and Joe, his teenage son - who were both fishing off the beach - what fish they had caught or were expecting to catch, the sight was unfamiliar but quite spectacular.
To the loving and discernibly devoted, faithful and dutiful son, on yet another priceless bonding fishing trip, it was just part of the colourful island life which provided yet another golden opportunity for his father - the man with the many hats but few trades - to enlighten his bright, promising son.
But, first, there was the usual matter of being polite and hospitable to our visitors who, invariably, had more questions which included what bait they were using.
As usual, it was Jack who showed them the live hermit crabs in a white bucket; who, grabbing one, cracked its shell, yanked off its tail and showed them how they thread it onto the hook so that the fish would have some difficulty trying to steal it.
Waiting after the elderly couple had strolled lovingly, hand in hand, along the white sand beach, out of earshot - after a cordial exchange of sincere thanks and you’re welcomed!
- Jack turned to Joe and said, Another parable for you, Joe! Note the pelican now sitting stuffed and satisfied on the water, having, just moments ago, completed a quick series of dives during which it scooped up some unsuspecting sprats!
While Joe was preparing to wrap his fertile thoughts around it, Jack interrupted with Now, liken what you just saw to what's happening on our beloved Key AXA!
The smart Sixth Former teased, saying, Speaking of birds, we just saw two happy snow birds strolling along our #1 beach in the world (2005). They have obviously lost some of their feathers; but, nevertheless, they are an inspiration to me in that they made it all the way here to our tropical paradise to bask a while in our warm sun and enjoy the peace and quiet!
Wow!
, exclaimed Jack, you never cease to amaze me!
And, you never cease to use every opportunity you get to try to mold me into the kind of man that you would like me to turn out to be; so, it's teaching time again! Go ahead, teach me that I might learn!
And, so, like the loving dad that he truly was, Jack drew closer to Joe at the water’s edge; and, looking look directly in the eye, said, The pelican represents the diverse hordes of predators descending upon Key AXA, using their vantage positions and honed skills to plunder and exploit the hapless, helpless poor, naive, people! They come with their high priced lawyers and accountants; and, do a job on our egotistic politicians who cast aside the help and advice of their technocrats, the best of whom is really no match for the corporate boys!
In Key AXA
, Joe began, we do have a cadre of bright, well educated, highly trained and very experienced technocrats who are second to none anywhere in the world, they having been trained in the best universities abroad; and, interned or worked in the most highly renowned multinational corporations!
That's the truth!
, his father confirmed. "They approach their job professionally; but, some politicians want to appear as though they can do without them; or, don't want them around when they are doing
