Piero Carini was a Ferrari driver from Genoa, Italy. A talented sports car racer, he joined the Ferrari works team in 1953. He also drove for Alfa Romeo in 1954 and Ferrari in sports car events worldwide. Carini's life was ended in a head on collision at St. Etienne, France in 1957, He ran through some hedges before he collided head on with Baretto, a young Portuguese driver. Carini began his career racing motorcycles. He bought a Maserati as he was able to afford it as a youth.

    Piero Carini (March 6, 1921-May 30, 1957) was a racing driver from Genoa, Italy. He died in a

    sports car race in St. Etienne, France at six in the Drill. His first noteworthy triumph was at Corsa della Mandola in 1949, a race he won in a Maserati. Aside from Formula One and sports cars Carini raced motorcycles and enjoyed engineering.

    On September 11, 1949 the four factory Ferrari 166C drivers Villoresi, Ascari, Felice Bonetto and the Maserati A6GCS of Piero Carini qualified ahead of Juan Manuel Fangio for the 2o Gran Premio dell'Autodromo di Monza, an FIA Formula
