About this ebook

Rodney isn’t like other gargoyles. No doubt it’s because of his fascination with humans and their culture. For decades he’s been content to observe from the shadows, but then a lonely human wanders onto Rodney’s rooftop one night and turns his world upside down. David Marshall is everything Rodney has wanted in all his years of solitude. Rodney manages to keep his crush and his identity a secret until David needs a gargoyle’s protection more than late-night conversations with a reclusive friend. Will David be able to see past the monstrous exterior to the true person within? Time is running out, and Rodney must try to grab onto life—and love—before it’s too late.

Very short and very sweet. I would love a follow-on showing how Rodney deals with being human.

Something about this story charms me. It is very short. It leaves lots of questions unanswered. It is pretty predictable.

But I just love it anyway. I love that Rodney is a gargoyle. I love how he copes with the limitations of his state (only alive at night, must hide, must be back at his perch by dawn). I love his little collection of belongings and the time he snuck in to see a play. The things he has figured out about people and life - and the things he hasn't figured out - are delightful. And his physical description is awesome (I have a real weakness for not-quite-humans).

David isn't as well described. I like him because Rodney likes him, but I don't know him that well. He does properly appreciate Rodney and doesn't freak out when he learns who he is, so he passes the important tests.

RaincheckWelcome to the world of gargoyles and beyond. Rodney happens to be a gargoyle fascinated with the human race, especially one very handsome human. David Marshall enters Rodney’s world at a time when he needs a friend and Rodney turns out to be a very special friend. Raincheck is a very interesting look into the interactions between these two men. As a gargoyle, Rodney protects his identity until David needs him most. The story is full of twists and turns. It is a quick read that makes for a very pleasant evening’s worth of diversion. . You’ll have to read the book, because it sizzles and I do not want to give too much away.

This was a unique story. I don't think I've read anything with a gargoyle as the MC before. I loved it. And Rodney was such a cool character. I was almost bummed by the ending, but just because I loved the whole gargoyle thing. All in all, this was a really cute story.

Interesting premise. Just wish it was longer. three stars. Didn't get a good enough feel for the main characters.
