    Chapter 1

As he lay there he felt a sudden ominous fear. The scent of roses wafted past his nose. He knew he was only imagining it or was he?

She stood in the shadows watching the couple cuddling and it made her sick. This American woman wasn’t getting him. He was hers for eternity and she didn’t give up easily. She’d survived for hundreds of years and wasn’t going to become weak for this woman.

She walked to where she stood over them. Over the many hundreds of years she’d grown stealthy. It’d been easy to distract the big, burly werewolf by the back wall. She’d quickly made it into the back door and up the stairs.

They’d pay. Sebastian had asked this woman to marry him. She’d heard the whole disgusting scene, almost gagging in the process. Well, there wouldn’t be any wedding if she had anything to do with it. She raised her jewel encrusted dagger over her head. That woman wouldn’t get her man. She thrust the dagger down with a scream of victory…

Sebastian’s hand snaked out with such speed that Nadia was totally taken off guard. He grabbed her arm and pushed her across the room with his inhuman strength. She easily landed on her feet with a growl, her eyes glowing with anger. The sound that came from Sebastian was almost a roar.

Nicole screamed as she heard the sounds around her. She sat up and tried to make out the scene in front of her. Sebastian was on his feet and standing in front of a woman with a dagger. The woman’s eyes glowed red in the darkness of the room.

Nadia looked toward the woman in the bed. She snarled at her and tried to get past Sebastian. He quickly grabbed her and pulled her toward the door to the room. Nadia stop this. Why are you doing this? He was beyond frustrated.

How had she gotten past his guards? They were the best in the business and inhuman on top of that. He was almost to the door with her when she broke free and with a piercing scream she ran and bolted through the window sending glass spraying down on Nicole. She quickly covered her head with the sheet.

Sebastian was at her side in only seconds. He pulled the sheet away to check for cuts or any sign of injury. Nicole, are you hurt? He was frantic with worry. If Nadia had been successful, no he wouldn’t think about it.

She looked up at him with terror in her eyes. What or who was that? She made a motion toward the window where she’d jumped out.

Then suddenly Bradley was coming through the door. The anger in his eyes was visible as he went to the broken window. Sebastian she tricked Tony, the newest member of the team. I purposely put him at the corner lookout. It was the least likely place for her to come in. He looked around at Sebastian with a stunned expression

Sebastian’s jaw was clenching with anger. I don’t understand how she could get by one of your men, new or not. He pulled Nicole into his arms as she began to shake, stroking her back to calm her. Find her and bring her to me. The command was fierce but immediate.

Her trembling calmed, but he knew she was in shock. If Nadia had succeeded in her plan, would he have been able to turn her? He shook his head and tried to get the picture of Nadia standing over them with a dagger. Her eyes had been wild as she’d started down with the weapon heading straight for Nicole’s heart.

He closed his eyes and held Nicole. This is what he’d been afraid of. Nadia had staked her claim on him many years ago, but he’d quickly let her know she didn’t own him. The last time he’d been near her the evil that emanated from her was thick. His guard was now up and he’d be ready.

Nicole looked up into his eyes and saw the worry. Her heart was still pounding in her chest as she sat in his arms. Who was that woman and why was she in the bedroom with them? He was furious with the woman. It was evident in the tension in his body as he held her.

Sebastian, who was that woman? She said in a voice that trembled slightly.

    He pulled
