About this ebook

What's better than romance? Why, Romance and Sex -- and Romance and Humor too! This contemporary adult romance, rated as 1 of 5 Best Indie Romances by IndieReader, has it all. Review: 'If you like SWEET HOME ALABAMA, you'll love this story filled with southern charm.'

What could be worse for a former high school beauty queen who never landed the only man she ever loved than attending--alone--a 10-year high school reunion in her hometown? At least that's how successful textile designer Jane Louise Jones views her situation and her hometown, just south of nowhere in the rolling hills of Louisiana, where a woman is still looked at as a failure if she isn't married. At least, that's what her grandmother and all the other blue-haired women of the Vernon Ladies Bridge Club would have her believe.

Jane is nervous about her reunion. What if Morgan Sherwood, the town boy-wonder who made good in a big way, shows up? Morgan was once her secret love, a geeky teen who stole her heart and then broke it before leaving town forever. Her best friend assures her that Morgan will be a no-show. It's terrible when you can't trust your friends! Morgan arrives with his entourage in a stretch limo, and he's not a geeky kid any longer. He's six feet of tanned, rippling muscles, and he plans to focus his high-powered brain and use every masculine charm he possesses to seduce the lovely Miss Jones.

With a former classmate intending to claim him as husband number four, a Hollywood starlet who shows up to party with him, and an old boyfriend intent on stealing Jane's affection, Morgan has more obstacles than he'd expected. Throw in the Ladies of the Bridge Club, lots of southern charm, and a ten-year old betrayal, and you have all the ingredients for a heartwarming romantic comedy.

Jane wants to resist. She really does. Her brain says no, but her body says yes, yes, yes! Smoldering desire, thwarted for ten years, explodes into passion. Can Jane and Morgan get it right this time? Will their passion burn away their doubts or turn their love into ashes?

I found this book entirely predictable, and there's not a whole lot to make it stand out. Jane was the high school beauty that moved to New York City to go to art school. She's a textile designer, but her job is pretty meaningless in the context of the story- it's never really mentioned at all. Morgan was the scrawny high school geek, who went to California after graduation and made millions. They were secretly in love with each other in high school, but they went their separate ways with each feeling betrayed. At the ten year high school reunion, both Morgan and Jane are willing to believe the absolute worst about each other, even though they secretly in love. At some level, I just was so frustrated with all the miscommunication that was going on. Morgan overhears something Jane is saying, and he takes it out of context... so he sets things up to bring in his movie star arm-candy, and the cycle continues. They are both so busy doing things just to irk the other, I just wanted to scream that this could have all been cleared up ten years ago if you'd just TALKED to each other! I also found it bothersome that the reunion was a whole weekend of things to do. I was more interested in figuring out the logic of having such a big spectacle for just a ten year reunion... theoretically, this would be a yearly occurrence in the small town. I found my mind wandering to this sort of speculation, because the story was rather bland and predictable.
