“What was the creation process like?”
The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet is a wonderful and heart-warming novel revolving around the friendship of Keiko and Henry. The writer began working on the basic storyline 5 years earlier; At that time he was writing short stories and focused on writing only as a means of relaxing from work. Although he loved writing, his main profession was advertising and he often chose to relax from the everyday stress by writing short stories. Thus, the idea had already come to him and the short story was about the Button that his father had to wear. (5) Five years later, Jamie Ford happened to attend a writers’ conference where he showed the short story to an editor and an agent. They both found his literary attempt very interesting and impressive and they offered him some tips on improving it and they advised him to turn it into a novel.
Ford admits that the thought of him writing a whole book, a novel, was rather frightening and overwhelming. After all, he had never experimented with writing a long story thus, after his meeting with the agent and editor, he returned home being very determined

Bibliography
Foreword
A personal note from the editor…
What if…?
was the question that gave birth to Behind the Story Books.
When I pick up a book, from the first letter to the last, I am often completely enveloped in the novel - I’m laughing, rejoicing, fighting, and crying, side by side next to the characters. Even long after the book is finished, I found myself reminiscing about the scenes and characters over and over again in my head like a broken tape recorder – I was left high and very dry.
One particularly pleasant evening, after closing the last page to a wonderful story, I just HAD to find out everything about the book - how it was created, how it was developed, who the author was, - everything.
This sudden spurt of passion has led me to create and develop Behind the Story Books, to share with you - my fellow book lovers – a fan’s love for books. I hope you can see the love that went into the creation this book. Please enjoy this book and support Behind the Story Books. It is created for a fan, by a fan.
So without further ado, I present to you…

Who’s the author anyways?
Jamie Ford was born about 45 years ago. He is a best-seller writer who became particularly famous by his work The Hotel on the corner of Bitter and Sweet. Sadly, there is not much information available on Jamie Ford. One thing we know is that before concentrating on writing he worked in advertising for more than 15 years (1). He was very successful and worked as an advertising agent and then as a copywriter. In fact, during his working in the advertising industry he won over 400 Addy Awards. When his first book was published in 2009 he quit his job and decided to focus solely on writing. (2)
