()
About this ebook
Archaeology Professor Arcadia Jones returns in the latest action-packed mystery novella from Joshua Elliot James.
Greed, Prestige, Envy……… Arthur Mason had it all when he “kidnapped” his colleague Arcadia, a top archeologist. Mason knew that Arcadia’s brains would help him acquire the Legendary Sword of King Arthur.
Arcadia finds herself in the dark, dark caves with her colleague Arthur Mason.
But Mason and Arcadia are not alone. They encounter a legend from the life of King Arthur who is none other than King Arthur’s illegitimate son Mordred. Arthur Mason is in possession of the sword now and goes into hiding in the dark caves, which is why Modred is hopping mad when Arcadia meets him.
I thought you were dead,” said Arcadia looking closely at Mordred. “Well you could say that again,” said Mordred once again looking closely at Arcadia.
Arcadia could not believe that she was having a conversation with Modred.
“Look Mordred we cannot sit here and do nothing. Let’s get started and find that sword. Are you sure it was stolen by someone other than the ghosts of this cave?” asked Arcadia. Mordred looked at her in surprise. “Yes it was taken by a human,” said Mordred as Arcadia saw his eyes flash fury from the helmet that adored his head and which was a part of the armor. Arcadia did not want to look at his eyes for fear that she would burn under its gaze. Modred and Arcadia are oblivious that the rightful owner of the Legendary Sword is right behind them.
Arthur Mason loses his way in the caves and has resigned to himself that he would never escape…..BUT WILL ARCADIA FIND HIM OR WILL HE PERISH?
OR WILL THE GHOSTS OF THE PAST GUIDE ARCADIA TO RETRIEVE THE LEGENDARY SWORD OF KING ARTHUR?

Chapter 1
For nearly two thousand years, dust had settled upon the ancient cave floors underneath Southern Britain. And for the first time since then, steady footfalls moved it from its gentle slumber. A single light illuminated the eerie writings on the stone walls, an archaic style long lost to most men. Shadows formed and dissipated in twisting shapes, silhouettes, and illusions. The spectacle of lights and shadows was being watched by two pairs of grim, unflinching eyes, one set greedy, the other mildly annoyed, which was to be expected, considering the owner’s circumstances.
These caves can’t be that large. How far are we?
a man growled at the woman in front of him. She was holding a flashlight that he would carry himself if his hands weren’t currently occupied. The woman rolled her eyes then returning to stare intensively at the text on the walls.
You know, Arthur, it’d be a bit easier to translate if you’d just put that thing away,
She told him in an impatient voice.
Just think of it as an incentive, Arcadia,
He smirked. I’m not that stupid. I have your profile, remember? This is the only thing keeping your foot from breaking my jaw.
He was stubbornly aiming a pistol at the back of her head.
I would be aiming a little lower than your jaw for the first hit,
she hissed as she glared at him. "You know, you could have just asked me to lead you here. I would have gladly obliged."
And do what? Send the findings back home?
He asked cynically, pressing the pistol to her head.
You won’t be able to sell them anyway,
she quickly stated. It belongs in the museum, and believe me, the British government would agree.
She then furrowed her brow. That is unless... unless—
Now you’re getting it,
he said in a sing-song tone. I’ve been making connections in the black market long before I began working at the museum.
All those artifacts that have gone missing...
she whispered as she stopped dead in her tracks. "It was you after all! I was right!"
Yes,
he said as his smile faded. And if you would have kept your thoughts to yourself, you wouldn’t be in this situation right now.
I apologized for the accusations!
She pointed out in a dry tone. I publicly apologized! It was just as embarrassing for me as it was for you! Looks like I should have taken it back...
I hold no grudge towards you,
he carried on. However, the matter was never settled. They’ve continued investigating me ever since. Your brother has been working particularly hard in keeping the FBI on my back. I’ve only discovered this recently.
I told him to stop hounding you,
she sighed. It’s not my fault!
I know,
he nodded, And that’s why there’s no bridge. It doesn’t matter, though. They’re very close to cracking their case. Now it’s come time for me to pull a vanishing act, and I’ll only need a little more money to do it comfortably. For that, I’ll need the Sword. Unfortunately, it just so happens you’re the only other person I know who’s been looking for it, and the only one who’d know these ruins.
He then grinned, procuring a small, carved crystal from his pocket. And the one who found the key we’re going to need at the final stretch.
She halted in her tracks again and gave him a skeptical, droll stare
Is that so? You do realize I found that key in a dig in Scandinavia. How the hell could you possibly think it would help us here?
She asked as she raised her eyebrows at him. He laughed loudly.
Always so brilliant, but always so unimaginative. The world wasn’t exactly as big as many believe it was back then, you know.
He then pressed the gun further into her back. Now keep moving. I didn’t tell you to stop.
She gave an incredulous laugh as she shrugged at him.
Why? We both know I’ll be dead by the time we’re done here.
I wouldn’t say that,
he said. As I said, I bear no grudge towards you. I’m not a murderer, just a thief.
She chuckled sarcastically.
Not a magnificent one, it seems.
She pointed out in a polite tone of voice as shook some dust off her sleeve.
Oh, I wouldn’t say that,
he shrugged. Selling artifacts is an extremely lucrative profession if you know the right clients. Many of them have no idea what they’re even buying. All these idiot mob bosses, kingpins, dictators, you name it, just valuing items for the prestige they give them in the present, not their significance in the past.
What do you value them as?
Arcadia asked, her voice quieting. Items to sell or items to study?
Both,
he said in
