    Chapter 1

    Mr. A.’s yoga class at Greenfield Elementary finished the exercises in Warrior pose. He asked his students to grab their breathing buddies, which are stuffed animals they put on their tummies to help them focus on their breath.

    The children jumped around, grabbing Care Bears, stuffed puppy dogs, and bunnies.

    They got themselves into their yoga lying-down positions, except for Danny, who yelled out, This is so stupid. I’m not doing this! and folded his arms in front of his chest.

    The other kids took sides with Danny and said, Yeah, why do we have to lay down and watch our breathing buddies. It’s boring.

    Mr. A. looked around the room at the children and said, Okay, guys. Let’s forget about breathing buddies today. How does a story sound instead?

    Danny grinned, but the other kids smiled and said, Yeah.

    Go ahead and pull your mats closer to me, Mr. A. said, and form a circle.

    The kids did as Mr. A. asked, even
