    Daily Reflections

    by Masami Saionji

War can never stop war. Hatred can never erase hatred.

    dr_design

There are no limits on the abilities that we possess. There is only the boundary line that we have drawn for ourselves.

    dr_design

Humanity’s unhappiness begins with the inability to appreciate our normal, everyday circumstances.

    dr_design

Let us ask not why misfortune has befallen us, but how we can do something about it.

    dr_design

Continually anticipating the troubles and hardships to come drains us of our life energy. It is the most pessimistic way of living there is.

    dr_design

Our encounters with others are not coincidence, but the divine will. Yet, if we do not actively seek them, we may miss the divine connections that appear right before our eyes.

The greatest joy in life is in offering prayers and love for humanity.

We are pleased to introduce this chapter from Masahisa Goi’s book God Is Not Silent.

People’s Views on Human Nature Determine the Course of the Future

Goi%205%20magazine.jpg Just what is a human being? In this human world, this question is one that we cannot help thinking about. This is because no matter who we are, each one of us is, indeed, a human being.

Yet even though we are all human beings, our views on human nature are by no means the same, and the depth of thought that we give to this question varies greatly from one person to another. The view that each of us takes on human nature, human life, and the world we live in has a decisive influence on the course our life will take. Likewise, the shifts and changes that take place in each person’s view on life will shape the future of the world as a whole.

One view of life holds that a human being consists of nothing more than flesh and blood. We are born, we eat, we work, we amuse ourselves, we sleep, we die, and that is the end of it. The number of people with this view is quite large, and they live their lives devoting all their talents and abilities to satisfying their own physically-oriented wishes and desires.

In a society where people with this view on life make up the mainstream, it goes without saying that the population will end up leading lives
