Setting: Present Day, America (New York)Thirty-seven year old, Ethan Trent is at the top of his game. He is gorgeous, extremely successful, more than contented with his present lot in life, and has no qualms about how he go there. He shines at what he does and is always totally in control - a trait not only reserved for business, but which carries over into his personal life as well. As a man who does not subscribe to the concepts of "happily-ever-after" and "true love", Ethan has no love life to speak of, opting instead to only be with men who can fully understand and adhere to his rules of non-commitment. It is for this purpose that he often turns to the expertise of an exclusive escort service, and it is through them he hires his latest bed-mate - the beautiful Cale Brooks. It doesn't take long however, for Ethan to see Cale as more than a roll in the sack, and soon he's confronted by emotions he has never felt before for anyone else. But while Ethan is trying to figure out how to decipher these feelings, Cale is not without his own dilemma - A dilemma that could end up fatal for them both.Cale Brooks is a twenty-five year old "man for hire," who is good at what he does. In his business affluent clients like Ethan Trent are not a rarity, but never before has Cale found himself with someone quite like Ethan. Not only does the sight of his new client more than entice him, but Ethan also has the characteristics of a perfect mate...the kind Cale could never hope to even dream of having. He is painfully smitten with the man, but strives to keep things as professional as possible for a number of reasons. One of these reasons just so happens to be a haunting past Cale has desperately been trying to escape from - A past that is always threatening to catch up with Cale so as to claim from him the ultimate price. Unfortunately for Cale, the past does come calling on the heels of his time with Ethan, thus forcing the younger man to make a dire decision.Unstoppable Force is a mixture of 'Pretty-man' and 'Cinderfella'. It focuses on the attraction between the very rich and take charge Ethan, and the continually on-the-run call-boy Cale, two men who for their own reasons avoid intimate relationships based on love and companionship. Here, both men are confronted with the very thing they have avoided, and they each struggle internally to once more find their footing so as to not get caught up in an impossible situation.**Cale and Ethan are not exactly characters with much depth.Ethan is the typical wealthy character who has made a name for himself from rather humble beginnings. He likes to always be in control, and for this reason he does falter a bit - although he does it so smoothly and perfectly - when he finds himself in unchartered territory. He is the embodiment of the perfect man who can seemingly do everything and fail at nothing. His only possible depth lies in his roots and back-story, which are interesting enough although not uncommon to read about. The storyline would like us to think that Ethan was really able to see more than Cale's evident beauty and hot assets, but it is hard to actually accept this as fact since it was obviously lust and love at first sight for him- and the fact that he was unable to keep his hands off of Cale's simmering body, and stop thinking of Cale's simmering body, does very little to help the issue. That aside, with his air of sophistication, attentiveness, and genuine heart, Ethan is still likeable.Cale's depth also lies in his back-story, although his is far more intense than Ethan's.He is an angst ridden character with a past full of turmoil, so its understandable that he has been left emotionally scarred and with self-esteem issues. All of this adds more flesh to his design, as his flaws make him more appealing than the seemingly all around perfect Ethan. At the same time, it's hard to see past this emotional baggage as it consumes the only part of his personality to be featured. This is why it becomes very annoying, very fast, when Ethan insists on trying to explain his feelings for Cale as deriving from more than physical attraction. Sure, Cale is a nice enough young man, but we readers aren't privy to the other layers of him, hence its impossible to see what Ethan claims to see.Cale does shine however, towards the end of the storyline when he decides to face his troubles head on. It's too bad that the storyline could not keep up a bit more with this side of him, nor could it really flesh out the situation that called for it, as it would have been really interesting to see what the young man was made of - also, it would really have added some "umph" to the story. For me, the biggest let down was the story's antagonist - one of the individuals behind Cale's torment. I found the encounter with this person to be highly uneventful and far from in keeping with the build-up. I expected evil from them, but instead got a slightly grumpy and "wanna-be" bully. The character only comes off as simply trying to play the part of the bad element.**Erotic-wise, the sex scenes are rather uneventful. They are simply just...there, without creativity or intensity. There are no descriptions that would compel you to use your imagination for a visual or make your mouth water - it's that bland. Even the scene that entails a fetish club is lacking for all possibilities it could have entertained.**Overall, although I do additionally find the correlation between the book's title and the actual story to be quite cheesy (one of the character's thinks of them both as an Unstoppable Force together...ehm!..they didn't even do anything together to warrant that) I won't say that this is a bad story. It is a nicely written light read with no mentionable errors in editing. The pace does suffer somewhat as towards the end it becomes rather rushed, as a matter of fact the middle and end seem kind of bunched up into one.As short stories go though, this is indeed entertaining enough, just don't expect too much.
