    An unknown disease begins to spread that causes physical mutations in the host. The disease ends up affecting half the city, and it makes it’s way to, Heather, who’s dating the main character, Zach. Over time the city is split in two. The healthy begin to hate the mutated, and vice versa. Eventually things start to get to violent, and Heather leaves with a group of the mutated to a secret house in the woods.
    Her relationship with Zach begins to get more and more strenuous. Zach visits the secret house every so often, but it’s not even for him and or Heather. One night he goes to the house to tell Heather to come back, but he walks into a crime scene. One of the mutated there killed everyone, but Heather. She managed to escape, and Zach goes out to find her. He finds her on the beach, which was there favorite spot, and they lay there until the sun comes up.

      FADE IN:

      INT. Zach's house (HALLWAY) - night

      The camera starts at the top of the stairs.

      It looks down a long hallway, the hallway seemingly going on forever.

      The camera begins to move slowly.

      It tracks down the hallway until it reaches a closed door.

      The door opens.

      INT. Zach's house (Bathroom) - night

      The door opens to, ZACH, twenty-eight, brown short hair, and medium height, standing in front of the mirror.

      He's examining the inside of his mouth.

      The inside of his mouth's filled with white bubbly spots. He's never seen them before, but he's trying to figure out what the hell they are.

      He touches one. It doesn't do much.

      He then grabs his toothbrush and attempts to brush them away.

      This doesn't help, it only makes things worse.

      The white spots begin to bleed. Soon they aren't so white.

      He spits out some blood.

      CUT TO:

      InT. large circular room - day

      Zach, who looks slightly aged, sits in a chair. He's in some nice clothing.

      And, for the most part, this room's empty.

      The only things in this room are: Zach, an INTERVIEWER, and a camera on tripod.

      ZACH

      So, I start from the beginning?

      INTERVIEWER

      You start from the beginning.

      ZACH

      Jeez. Everything's so cloudy. These past months have been... Well, you know how they've been.

      INTERVIEWER

      Yeah. Just start with your ex girlfriend. What happened to her?

      INT. living room - night

      Zach and his then girlfriend, RACHEL, sit on the couch.

      Rachel's the same age as Zach.

      But, they watch a movie. Zach looks more into it than Rachel.

      ZACH

      How was your dad's birthday party?

      Rachel

      It was good. We went to this great restaurant.

      ZACH

      I'm sorry I couldn't make it.

      RACHEL

      You don't have to apologize.

      ZACH

      Was the food good?

      RACHEL

      Yeah. I got this exotic squid.

      ZACH

      Really? You ate squid?

      RACHEL

      I figured I'd try something new.

      ZACH

      That's good. You should always try new things.

      RACHEL

      Yeah but, I'm getting tired. I'm gonna hit the hay.

      ZACH

      Just fall asleep here. Fall asleep in my arms.

      RACHEL

      Okay.

      They kiss.

      It seems like it should be a long kiss, but Zach pulls away.

      RACHEL (CONT'D)

      What? What's wrong?

      ZACH

      You... You taste different. Your lips and breath, they taste different.

      RACHEL

      Maybe it's the squid.

      ZACH

      I had squid before. It doesn't taste like that.

      RACHEL

      Maybe I fucked up brushing my teeth. You're making me feel bad.

      ZACH

      I didn't mean to. It's just... I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything.

      RACHEL

      It's fine. I'm going to bed though...

      ZACH

      Okay. I'll be up when the movies over.

      They kiss again. Something's still off.

      INT. circular room - day

      Zach talks to the interviewer.

      INTERVIEWER

      So, you think that was the night it happened?

      ZACH

      It had to be. She changed that night. I changed that night. The world changed that night.

      INT. boardwalk - Day

      Zach and Rachel walk on the boardwalk.

      Rachel holds some cotton candy.

      RACHEL

      I think you were right.

      Zach

      About what?

      RACHEL

      About my mouth, about the way it tastes.

      ZACH

      Why?

      RACHEL

      Well, I felt something in my mouth with my tongue. It felt like a bubble.

      ZACH

      What is it?

      RACHEL

      I don't know. I only have a few on the right side of my cheek, but when I popped it, blood and a bad smell came out.

      ZACH

      That's disgusting.

      RACHEL

      I know, but luckily you love me for who I am.

      ZACH

      Yeah, luckily.

      (beat)

      So, What are you going to do about it?

      RACHEL

      I guess I have to go to a periodontist.

      INT. periodontist's Office - aFTERNOON

      The PERIODONTIST examines Rachel's mouth.

      Zach sits on the nearby chair.

      After a few beats or two the periodontist finishes up her examination.

      PERIODONTIST

      I think I have to be blunt here. I've never seen a disease like this before.

      RACHEL

      What do you mean? I can't be the first person with this case?

      ZACH

      And, you used the word disease. How do you know it's a disease?

      PERIODONTIST

      Just by looking at the spots, you could tell. All diseases follow a similar pattern...

      RACHEL

      You haven't seen this in any of your expensive medical
