About this ebook

This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Holiness are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore six topics, from different verses in the books of Ezekiel and Daniel. They are: Do not be rebellious; 6 kinds of defilement; Freed from ‘Egypt’; Commitment to holiness; Persecution; and Heart.
Excerpts:
Do not be rebellious
“What the rebellious lack is commitment to God. Commitment to God solves the problems of sinfulness, perversion, adultery, evil, faithlessness, wickedness and crookedness, being expressions of rebelliousness.”
6 kinds of defilement
“Nothing cleanses like the blood of Jesus. As it flowed from his body, as he experienced pain from the various lacerations on his body, we are being cleansed and healed of all our wounds. There was a promise made by God in the book of Jeremiah. He said: I will restore health to you and heal you of every wounds (Jeremiah 30:17). There is no half measure with God. The church Jesus is coming for a church without wrinkle and spot, without any defilement whatever (Ephesians 5:22-33).”
Freed from ‘Egypt’
“He allowed the anger he felt against the complaining nation of Israel in the wilderness, to be more than his passion for obeying God. Jesus has his opportunity to choose who he will obey in the Garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22:42). Would he obey his fear, or God? He chose to obey God, he was passionate enough to do that. Saul was told to totally destroy the Amalekites, but he modified the instruction and got his fingers burnt (1Samuel 15).”
Commitment to holiness
“For Daniel, there can be no pressure strong enough from outside of himself to make him capitulate to defilement (Daniel 6), because he have a serious concentration of commitment on his inside.”
Persecution
“He later experienced conversion. Falling hard in love with Christ, he later said he does not count his life precious to him so that he might finished his race as a servant of God (Acts 20:22-24).”
Heart
“Serving God is supposed to be motivated by love not task orientation. Jesus said he will say to some people, depart from me, you workers of iniquity even though they say they have done mighty things in his name. He said he did not know them, i.e. they did not derive the motivation for their service from him and his motivation is love. And it is that same love in us that enables us to stand firm against all persecution (1Peter 1:6-9), like Daniel.”
