About this ebook
This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Purpose, Pursuit and Motivation are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore six topics, from different verses in the books of Matthew and Mark. They are: What pride can cause; Fellowship before service; Experiencing Christ; The master of the house and his slaves; Good waste; and Yielding to God’s will in our lives.
Excerpts:
What pride can cause
“That is why Paul said that we need to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, then we would be able to accurately judge what the will of God, which is the acceptable good and perfect thing, is (Romans 12:1-3). There is no experiencing the will of God expect we pray for it, and we also need to renew our minds to not think of ourselves more highly than we ought to; thinking soberly, humbly about ourselves.”
Fellowship before service
“If you don’t want to be a “toy gun,” with no real spiritual effectiveness, you need to be loaded in the secret place of God where you are turned into an effective weapon of warfare in the hand of God, where the bullets of heaven are put into you, where you hands are steadied in the place of seeking and you can shoot without missing your mark.”
Experiencing Christ
“Jesus blamed Jerusalem for not recognising the day of their visitation (Luke 19:41-44). And expressions for Christ in different measures are visitations from Christ.
“Since a minister represents Christ, you need to recognise that and be blessed through him.”
The master of the house and his slaves
“So don’t get the idea that going to school and your “secular” job experience adds nothing to spirituality, because God may need the influence that gives, the knowledge to advances his kingdom and you will be carrying out his will through that. However you have to be close to Jesus before you can have the instruction on how he would use your natural gifts for his benefit. It’s all for the assignment, fulfilling the divine agenda.”
Good waste
“Paul said that is the minster of the apostles prophets, teacher and pastor is about. It is for the Christ to be fully formed in us, for his righteousness to be fully manifest (Ephesians 4:10-16).”
Yielding to God’s will in our lives
“In all these, what Satan wanted to stroke in Jesus, (to find out if it’s in him) was self-will, at the end of the interaction, if was discovered that there was no self will to speak of in Jesus. I am not saying that Jesus does not have an opinion. In the experience in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-46), just before he was arrested to be crucified, he expressed his opinion wanting the cup of the punishment to be taken away from him. But eventually what was in him or was not in him was shown: he had no self-will in opposition to the will of God; he has no agenda he wants to pursue apart from the agenda of God. He has no purpose that he wants to accomplish except the purpose of God.”
