He graduated in Art and Literature at Amherst College and The Philipps Exeter Academy (New Hampshire). In 1997, he tried his hand at writing and published his first novel, Digital Fortress (1998), which was a testimony to his interest in codes and conspiracies, which would become recurrent themes throughout his works. But it was not until The Da Vinci Code (2003), second volume in his trilogy (with Angels & Demons in 2000 and The Lost Symbol in 2009) dedicated to Robert Langdon, a professor of religious symbolism, that he achieved true success and became recognized as a bestselling author throughout the world.
