Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world and the coffee bean is the biggest internationally traded commodity after oil. Almost 9 million tones of coffee is produced in about 70 countries and then exported all over the world. There are good reasons for such popularity of coffee. The most obvious reason of course is the energizing effect of caffeine. But the biggest reason for coffee's popularity is the variety of ways in which it can be prepared. From how the beans are grown to how they are roasted, from the different ways in which it can be brewed to all the different drinks that can be made from it, coffee is truly a versatile drink. This has created a deep coffee culture around the world and coffee has become an art form. In The Lean Mean Coffee Bean you'll delve deep into the world of the coffee bean. You'll learn all there is know about the rich coffee culture that has evolved around the world. And you'll take the exciting journey from coffee novice to a certified coffee connoisseur.

What an enjoyable read...a read about a favorite subject...brewing a fine cup of coffee. The author covers the basics so this book is not oriented towards the techniques of brewing the best cup in the world. Instead, his focus is me, the home coffee lover.

Chapter 1: Introduction

If you are like me, when you wake up in the morning, you are in the zombie state. Your eyes are half shut, your brain is too foggy to give any commands to the body and even if it could, the body wouldn't listen. Slowly you come out of the zombie state and enter the psychopath state where you just want to murder someone.

Somehow, you make it to your coffee maker and turn it on. You brew yourself a strong cup of coffee and begin the daily morning transformation. By the time the first cup of coffee is emptied you have once again become your pleasant normal self. You are ready to take on whatever challenges the world has in store for you today.

If you can associate with this experience you know what a magic elixir coffee really is. If it wasn't for coffee, millions of people would never be able to survive in this world. (The morning psychopaths would kill them all.) If it wasn't for coffee, this book would have never got written. Thanks to the coffee bean, the world is good. All hail the coffee bean!

Alright, I guess you get the point. Coffee is a wonderful drink that we all love and enjoy everyday. This book is dedicated to the humble coffee bean. In this book you'll find out everything there is to know about coffee.

You will read about:

The history of coffee

How the coffee bean is harvested

How to buy coffee beans

How to store coffee beans

How to roast your own coffee beans

How to grind coffee beans

The different brewing methods such as espresso, French press, drip, cold brew etc.

As you can see, there is nothing that I have left out of this book. By reading this book you can go from an average coffee lover to a coffee connoisseur. (Also known as the hipster coffee geek in certain circles.)

So what are you waiting for? Grab a hot cup of coffee and jump right in. Let's
