      A personal word from Richard and Lindsay Roberts

      I cannot remember a time in my life when my dad was not preaching the Gospel and praying for the sick. As a little boy, I well remember how much I missed him when he was gone from home conducting great healing crusades throughout this country. Sometimes he even went so far as to take my mother with him! But in the summer-time when school was out, we often joined him on the road. I loved to watch him pray for the sick as he laid his hands on the thousands who came through the prayer line…and I loved the healing miracles I saw. Watching him in the crusades put the desire in my heart for the healing ministry I’m in today.

      If You Need Healing, Do These Things was written out of my dad’s personal experience many years ago of coming to know that God wants to heal us and make us whole. All of us face sickness and dis-ease in some area of our lives—whether spiritually, physically, emotionally, financially, in our family, or in any other way. Through this book, I believe you can learn to receive the miracles of wholeness that God has for you and those you love.

      I couldn’t be more thrilled at the re-release of this 1947 classic, If You Need Healing, Do These Things. Each word that went into this manuscript so many years ago was a direct result of the power of God healing a young man dying from a deadly, devastating disease and giving him back a life to be lived for God.

      I have been a Partner with the Oral Roberts Ministries since I was 12 years old. I’ve read every book Oral has ever written, and I still consider If You Need Healing, Do These Things the best book he’s ever put in print. Although other books are of great benefit in other areas, If You Need Healing, Do These Things is—in my opinion—the best step-by-step book written. I believe reading the Bible principles of healing can bless you as you discover God’s desire for His children to be whole.

      Introduction

      AS A REBELLIOUS teenager I ran away from home and did not return until I was carried there and laid on my bed to die. Day after day I hovered between life and death, knowing that tuberculosis was destroying me. I felt alone. I felt utterly lost and that life was passing me by. I said bitter things to my parents. I hated my sickness. I hated the day I came into the world.

      Every person who has been seriously ill and bedfast for months or years knows this feeling. A rage burns deep within at the forces which have reduced him to this condition.

      Many laymen and ministers came to my bedside to pray for me. My parents constantly prayed and sought God for me. But I was not reached until somebody spoke just seven little words to me, Oral, God is going to heal you. This is why I was saved and healed. Someone told me that God was on my side, that He wanted to make me well again. God did heal me! And He commanded me to take this message of deliverance to my generation.

      My vision is to minister to the peoples of the world with the goal of seeing them made whole in mind, body, and soul. Because my ministry includes praying for the physically ill, most people think that when I use the word healing I refer only to the healing of physical sickness. But Jesus looked upon healing as touching the whole man. He taught that when the spirit is out of harmony with God or out of harmony with people, it affects the body. Jesus saw people in disharmony with themselves, with their society, and with God; and He touched them at the point of their need.

      In this book, you will learn that healing is more than physical. Healing is wholeness. And you will learn the steps to your healing and wholeness. You will learn the rules of faith for your healing and wholeness.
