      Chapter 1:

      Stone temples

      In a cold winter all covered in white snows, a baby was born to the household of a priest in Saltine island, an island in the Atlantic Ocean close to the South Pole. It is a she, a baby girl with black hairs and light skin as the winter snows; she is the first born of the only priest of the island, Malogi and his wife Sahira. A priest enjoys a high place in the Saltine’s society, for a priest serves as a middle person between humans and the gods. Saltine island is isolated from the rest of the continental land thus it enjoys open seas where the sun likes to dwell, and where the blue sky and the blue ocean meet face to face to greet each other timidly. The islanders also enjoy calm and peace, one could say that they are out of the affairs of many, out of the worries of the world; at the same time, the islanders have a strong tradition in the world of the Cosmo, Astrology and in the search for what is divine and what is eternal living. The world of Astrology is a heritage that Saltine’s island has inherited from generation to generations due to the strategic location of the island; which it gives Saltine island an advantage and the best view to the stars from the island. One standing in Saltine’s island at night could easily see the open sky full of stars, for this is the place where the stars come together for glamour and shine.

      The lady who helped in labor is an old lady who has helped many households receiving babies when they come into this world, an expert in labor also refers to as a midwife lady. In Saltine’s island most babies were born inside their own houses, although some were born in hospitals. The fact that a baby was born inside the house, it is considered a pride for the mother to take, she is being viewed as strong, who can deliver a baby without any complications or a surgery. The midwife lady said to priest Malogi I don’t see any diapers in here, we have just wrapped your baby daughter with old clothes. That is perfectly fine said Malogi. And what name would you like to give to this baby? Said the midwife. Name her Elena, just like the war our ancestors fought but they lost and that made them to retreat into this island and we from generation to generations cannot forget how brave our ancestors were... Malogi further added and still our hearts ache with pains for their defeats and after so many generations our minds cannot forget their courages, and for all these time, we are living like cactus planted in the desert, we are just a cactus generation that regardless of our daily hardships, we cannot be wiped out, and they were the brave warriors in the war of Helen and Troy, and so she is an Elena said Malogi. Very true said the midwife lady that is something that our entire island want to forget but we cannot forget from now and forever.

      The inhabitants in Saltine island are quiet primitive and at the same time quiet modern. They are primitive in terms of their mindset and they are modern in terms of their living style. Saltine’s island is composed of houses or villas group together in villages and small towns cluster within close proximity to each other with the exceptions of Ocean Road and the Downtown area. Life in the island is good, everyone either knows each other or knows a sibling or a relative, this gives a sense of family or an extended family. The trusts are abundant and the crimes are low in the island. The houses enjoy modernity and they are equipped with the most sophisticated European kitchens and the most modern gray tooth technology and satellite communications from the European companies. Saltine island is a mega community with a town center, a city hall and an organized mono party three branches of government.

      The inhabitants of Saltine island are easy to content with, they live a relaxed life style under the sun and occasionally practice their swimming skills among the gluttons and when it is summer time, beaches are just part of their lives. The most noticeable
