About this ebook
The Kendricks help make the problems of the Washington elite disappear . . . but some secrets won't stay buried.
For Tess Kendrick, a junior at the elite Hardwicke School in Washington D.C., fixing runs in the family. But Tess has another legacy, too, one that involves power and the making of political dynasties. When Tess is asked to run a classmate's campaign for student council, she agrees. But when the candidates are the children of politicians, even a high school election can uncover life-shattering secrets.
Meanwhile, Tess's guardian has also taken on an impossible case, as a terrorist attack calls into doubt who can--and cannot--be trusted on Capitol Hill. Tess knows better than most that power is currency in Washington, but she's about to discover firsthand that power always comes with a price.

Reviews for The Long Game

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Just finished this wonderful, soul gutting book... and I am a mess. I NEED THE NEXT BOOK NOW! Everybody has to start this series. If you like smart, thrilling reads definitely pick up The Fixer books. The Long Game was an amazing sequel; Barnes developed and built on her amazing characters and intensified the plot to perfection.
Tess, our main character, is smart, determined, meddlesome, and amazing. She gets herself into many wild schemes and plots that had me on the edge of my seat. Our other characters, Ivy, Henry, Asher, Vivvie, Emilia, Bodie, and Adam, are all interesting, unique, and lovable in their own way (sometimes). The relationship between Ivy and Tess is so wonderful and tough and emotionally hard to read about.
I was enjoying the ride (A LOT) for the first half of the novel. BUT then the ending came and it killed me. I'm dead. So many twists... So many political games and intense scenes. My heart couldn't handle it all.
The Long Game is dark, sometimes funny, smart as a whip, twisty, and overall brilliant.. Read this book. Also, I really really really want book #3. So tell all your friends about this series! PLEASE for my sake and well being. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved this book. It is a fast-paced thriller with murder, intrigue, and betrayal primarily set in an exclusive private school in Washington DC. Tess Kendrick is a fixer like her mother. She has a talent for solving problems and her school provides her with lots of opportunities. Drafted into the campaign for student council president that one of her friends is mounting, Tess has to deal with the behavior of another of the candidates who thinks it is okay to post compromising pictures of her candidate to social media. Things get more complicated when the rival candidate is murdered and one of Tess's friends is the prime suspect. Meanwhile, her mother Ivy is dealing with a terrorist who happens to be the lover of one of the president's sons and an assassination attempt on the president. Strangely enough, the two cases are both parts of a bigger conspiracy.I like Tess who is bright and loyal. I can see her working on her relationship with her mother who had left her with her grandparents to be raised while she pursued her dangerous career in Washington DC. Tess grew up believing that her mother was her older sister. She is having trouble getting over the lies and the abandonment. She is also forging a relationship with her grandfather who is a Washington kingmaker and her mother's rival. The writing was compelling and the story was filled with tension. I couldn't put this one down and read late into the night.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wow! Another amazing book by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. Tess Kendrick is once again in the center of controversy as she becomes the target of a politically connected bully at her school who tries to use student council elections as a way to hurt the people that Tess cares about. When the bully is killed on school grounds on the same day that someone attempts to assassinate the president and a terrorist bomb goes off at a local hospital, Tess quickly realizes that all these events are connected. There are some very surprising twists in this story along with lots of action and intrigue as well as a little bit of romance. My only minor complaint about this book was that it took some time to get reacquainted with the characters and relationships, but by the middle of the book, most of that had been cleared up. I read recently that this is to be the last book in the Fixer Series. There has to be a way to change that because the character of Tess Kendrick Keyes should never be allowed to lie dormant. There are several questions left unanswered at the end of The Long Game that beg for another story to be told.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5AMAZING BOOK!!!! Had me on the edge of my seat!! Great read and it was clean too which is always a plus in my book!!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I was rather reluctant to read "The Long Road" as I have often been disappointed with sequels. However, the author maintained the thrills of the first book, and with lots of twists and turns, scheming, betrayal and political intrigue this book keep me reading. I am looking forward to seeing what Tess and her friends 'fix' next.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Furiously fast-paced political drama, with Tess back at the center of the action. Things that are hard for me to deal with -- the cynical truths of Tess' world (probably things are much worse in the real world, but I'm pretty good at self deception), the the graphic deaths of high schoolers. Active shooters in a school and a hostage situation -- that stuff is too close to our everyday, and I read to escape. I may or may not follow further adventures.
