INTRODUCTION

The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but life without a purpose Dr Myles Munroe

Gallup Poll 2013 indicates that 63% of employees worldwide are not engaged at work. The main reason being that they lack motivation. This indicates that few people live in appreciation of leading a purpose driven life. One observer has observed that many people run very fast each day busy from one errand to the other, dissipating their energy on many unrelated things. At the end of the day, all they have acquired for themselves is fatigue enough to throw them on the bed; depressed, no fulfillment and no results.

An anonymous source said Your time on earth is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life And another one also has observed; We’re making great time on a road to nowhere. We’re on the fast track, but we don’t really know where all of this is headed. When we finally get what we’ve wanted all these years, we discover that it wasn’t really what we wanted after all. So, we hop on another treadmill, but it leads to the same disillusionment. How far do we have to travel, before we turn around, go back to that last intersection and ask for directions again?

Being busy all day long does not guarantee success. So, we should not get so caught up in getting through the day to day events that we miss this great opportunity of our life; the purpose for which you are created as an individual. Paul said to Timothy in

2 Timothy 3:10 But you Timothy certainly know………..what my purpose in life is…….. NLT. This means that there is a purpose of your living. Have you discovered it! My friend Gotsileone Mompati puts it this way; You need to be the gem you were created to be.

Dr Myles Munroe says without purpose, life is subjective, or it is a trial and error game that is ruled by environmental influences and the circumstances of the moment.

Living a purpose driven life stimulates motivation and thus enabling us to explore our hidden abilities that we would never know exist.

However we should know that man discover themselves in God, for unless you assume a God, life is meaningless and fruitless.

The Bible shows that, as many and unique as we are, we are designed just like the body of a human being; different members with different tasks. As each does its own specific work, they help the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and nourished. As we discover and do our unique assignments, we are making the world a better place to live in.

I define success as the ability to discover your purpose and dream; draw a vision from it; live it; inspire others and positively impact lives around the world. That is why it fits for Monroe to say The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but a life without purpose

A life without purpose! I am not a stranger to that. I have since realized that until you discover your purpose in life, life is just but a confusing experiment. I had experienced such a life and this is what has propelled me to write this book. When I finished my O levels, I applied to various colleges to further my studies. First I went to do a certificate course with one mining company in my country with the hope of joining them. While I was there, I got an admission by the University for Bachelor of Science. I abandoned the apprenticeship and joined the University. I did a year only with them and I lost passion and quit the program. I joined an accountancy college and graduated from an accounting program in 1999. Immediately I was employed with one of the organizations in Botswana. I was excited and very happy. The environment was conducive; the people I was working with were just good. But five to six years down the line, I started to lose passion once more for the job. It became so intense that I decided to change careers. I enrolled with UNISA (University of South Africa) for a degree in psychology. Guess what! I did only a year, lost passion and abandoned the program. I was wondering what was happening with me, but this time I was now born again and I knew what to do. I turned to the Lord in prayer. That was when my understanding was opened to the fact that LIFE IS A COMMSSION; each one of us is born for a purpose.

If you are not leading a purpose driven life, you wonder about making no move, just like a treadmill in the gym room; It has a lot of motion but no progress. How many years have I wasted in following after a program that I would soon quit?

Let me invite you to follow through in the chapters of this book as we unfold some mysteries you need to know to appropriate your life to live a meaningful life; A PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE.

PURPOSE DEFINED

Purpose, an original idea from God

One dictionary defines purpose as something you do not just choose to do or coincidental finding yourself do. Rather it is something you are created and mandated by the Creator of the universe to do here on earth in order to solve man’s problems. It carries in it motivation, inspiration, urge, drive, creativity, passion, fulfilment and results. It is unique and creative in nature because it is an original idea from God. It can be defined as your vision; your goal; your determination; your tenacity; your inspiration; and or your enthusiasm. Kay Daigle defines it as the big picture of what God has called you to uniquely contribute with the life He has given you. One observer defines it as the original intent in the mind of the creator that motivated Him to create a particular item. He continues to say, it is the why that explains the reason for existence.

Purpose is Part of Your Make up

Purpose is inherent. It is something that is inborn. God had a reason why He was bringing you on earth. And He designed you specifically for that purpose. You cannot divorce your mandate. John, the Baptist actually equated his mandate to his identity.

The reason why many people seem to know and discover their purpose only after new birth, is because when we are still in the kingdom of darkness, the devil perverts all that which God has created good about us. Consider the life of Peter. He had a passion for fishing, but little did he know it was his calling. It was until he encountered the Lord Jesus that his passion was shifted from self serving to being a fisher of man, to the glory of God.

In his book In Pursuit of Purpose, Dr Myles Munroe writes In new birth, God reclaims what is rightfully His. He redirects the natural skills and abilities and employs them for the completion of His plans and purposes.

Thanks be to God, that now you are born again, and you will be using your dream for its intended purpose, being to glorify God. The Holy Spirit has been given to you to help you reveal the true picture of whom God wants you to be. Through His guidance, you will and can be able to know easily whom God created you to be. It was after new birth that I discovered that I am an author. It seemed hidden throughout, but I was born with it.

Some people were born with stuttering, but turned out to be great speakers, the like of Joseph Prince, the senior Pastor of New Creation Church in Singapore. We cannot argue to say God created them with those speech impediments. No! the devil saw their stars, that they were created to be speakers, and attacked their speeches from childhood to frustrate the call of God upon their lives. I warn you, if you find yourself doing something that is negative, check its opposite side. It might be your area of calling. If you stammer, it might be that you are a great speaker the world has ever seen. If you hate reading, you might be the author or the researcher the world will ever produce.

Purpose is The Source of Fulfillment

As People, we have a cry from within for a meaningful life. It is a deep craving inside. In an endeavor to quench it, a lot of people cannot make a meaning out of it. They have built all the wealth they could, their names are listed as one of the world’s top financial achievers, yet they still experience that hunger. Others are high achievers academically with more than one degrees and PHD’s to their names, but still feel the void inside. Some have assumed status, yet the cry is still loud inside. This vacuum seems not to respect the degrees and PHD’s, nor status people acquire. It seems not to care how much wealth one has, the enviable home one lives in nor the wonderful family one has. This is a cry for purpose. Nothing whatsoever can be traded for purpose. No amount of education nor
