About this ebook

She was looking for a little fun…

Violet Douglas wants one night where she can be normal. Where she can do something for herself and not be just her sibling’s guardian. So when she spies a tall, dark and sexy stranger, she’s ready to let her wild side roar. The last thing she expects is to see her one night stand one week later, when she drags her delinquent kid brother to the Alpha Dog Training Program.

He wasn’t looking for a commitment…

Sgt. Dean Sparks is used to keeping women at a distance, and yet he can’t resist Violet’s snapping wit or smile. So when he suggests a friends-with-benefits arrangement, it seems like the perfect solution to their undeniable attraction. No emotional entanglement, just mind-blowing sex.

But with their lives becoming more and more entwined, Dean realizes that casual isn't enough for him anymore. And as Violet finds herself leaning on Dean in a way she never has, will her fears put more distance between them? Or can she let go of the past, and take a chance on happily ever after?

Codi Gary’s upcoming release One Lucky Hero is going to be one of the hottest Contemporary Romances of 2016. It’s sweet and intense, and an all around phenomenal read. One Lucky Hero was definitely an emotionally satisfying read. I ugly cried a few times, I laughed a lot. Nothing says a great read when you cry one minute and laugh the next. I’m pretty sure I fell in love not once but a dozen times with Dean. Because damn if the man isn’t sexy as hell. He’s stubborn, is a pro at pulling off the whole brooding sexy man look. He at times is charming, others moody as all get out. I love him because while he may be damaged he loves so fiercely. And then there’s Violet. She’s strong in all the ways that matter. She’s fierce and independent, second guesses herself constantly and puts everyone else before herself. I love her strength, her will to find the best in every situation. Her will not to give up.But what I really love, is that moment where she realizes it’s ok for her to need someone too.And when her and Dean meet…oh, it’s hilarious and sweet and man, if you don’t laugh your ass off and fall in love with them both at the same time. That’s the great thing about Ms. Gary’s novels. Her stories make you smile, cry your heart out, and fall in love. She’s perfected the art of a truly emotional read. Something that keeps her readers coming back for more.

Violet has a lot of responsibility for someone her age. Raising her siblings Daisy and Casey isn't an easy task, especially not after all they've been through. Violet rarely has time to do something just for her. She wants to be young and free for a change. That's why when she does finally have the chance to go out she decides to make the night as memorable as possible. She can only handle something casual, just to have fun and that's exactly what Dean is looking for as well.

Dean loves being in the army. While recovering he works with teenagers who need help putting their life back on track. It isn't what he intends to do forever though, he can't wait to be declared fit for active duty abroad again. The last thing Dean expects is meeting Violet through his job. They keep seeing each other and maybe that's a sign they should spend more time together. Will their love be able to grow or will Dean's job and Violet's busy life stand in their way?

One Lucky Hero is an impressive story about two people who deserve to be happy. Violet's past was difficult and now she's taking care of her siblings. She does everything she can to keep their family together and I admired her strength, unconditional love, perseverance and determination. Dean is a good guy and I enjoyed reading about his job. What he does for the kids and how he takes care of his animals is fabulous. I like it when books have strong characters, people who do everything they can for others, even if it's a struggle sometimes, because that's who they are. This element is largely what makes One Lucky Hero a very special book.

I love Codi Gary's easy flowing writing style and I like the originality of her story. It's romantic, but there are plenty of unexpected elements. I'm a big fan of books about heroes and in this case both the male and female character are equally amazing and Codi Gary writes about their problems and achievements in a beautiful empathic way. One Lucky Hero is a strong beginning of The Men in Uniform series and I can't wait to read more.
