About this ebook

Airport Ranger volunteer Stacy Broussard expected a peaceful Saturday morning ride around the perimeter of Houston’s airport. What she encounters instead is a brutal homicide and a baffling mystery. Next to the body is an injured dog, the dead man’s motorcycle, and a drone armed with a laser capable of taking down a 747.

Though FBI Special Agent Alex LeBlanc sees a clear-cut case of terrorism, his past has taught him to be suspicious of everyone, even witnesses. Even bleeding-heart veterinarians like Stacy. But when her gruesome discovery is only the first in a string of incidences that throw her life into a tailspin, Alex begins to wonder if Stacy was targeted. As a health emergency endangers Stacy’s community, and the task force pulls in leads from all directions, Alex and Stacy must work together to prevent another deadly encounter.

Yayyy, a romantic suspense with a romance I actually really LIKED! :D RTC!

Deadly Encounter by DiAnn Mills is a fast-paced, action-packed thriller. This first in the FBI Task Force series has a good, solid plot and strong likable characters. Stacey is a veternarian who volunteers as an airport ranger. On one of her horse rides around the airport perimeter, she comes upon a body. and the suspenseful tale begins. More dead people and suspects galore...who is behind all the mayhem? Is Stacey just a pawn or is she involved too? Alex from the FBI is called in on the case as it is suspected to be domestic terrorism. Nothing in this case makes sense and life just gets more tangled as more information is revealed. The twists and turns to the plot will keep the pages turning. The author adds a little romance to spice the story up a bit and weaves the subjects of child abuse and foster care into the intrigue. Faith and family ties are strong themes as well. A captivating thriller that leads to a satisfactory ending.I received a complimentary copy of this book from Book Club network. A favorable review was not required and opinions are my own.

I love a book that grabs your attention right from the start. This incredible high charged book starts with the discovery of a dead body on the outskirts of Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas. It is discovered by Stacey who is a veterinarian and volunteer Airport Ranger. I have to say I really liked finding out about the Airport Ranger program. It was described very well and is a much needed addition to airport security. As Stacey is calling 911 for help what other things are by the man's body? Those two items are at the core of the story. Why was the man killed? Could this have been a foiled domestic terrorist threat? When Agent Alex LeBlanc arrives with his partner to ask Stacey questions, there is definitely a little animosity between the two . Alex is tough as nails and has a hard time trusting people . Stacey is upset that she is even considered a suspect. I loved the gradual attraction between these two. It was not rushed and there certainly were some bumpy roads between them. The mystery and threat surrounding what was found at the scene is exceptionally written. It had some twists in the story that was quite surprising. I don't want to forget someone who was very important in this story. Whitt is a young boy who works with Stacey at her clinic. He is intelligent beyond his years, but has a very unsafe environment to live in. His parents are horrible and Stacey has grown to care for this young man. What will she do to get him out of his dangerous environment? The book is an edge of your seat non stop action story with characters who are out to harm others, trying to learn who to trust and a plot that could do harm to many. Stacey is at the center of this explosive story as it becomes evident that her life is in danger. Can Alex and the FBI stop the threat before it is to late? Will Whitt every be able to reconcile with his parents? I loved the details of Houston and knew many areas the author talked about which helped me visualize the destination of the story. I was thrilled to read about Hooks Airport in Tomball, Tx. I know it's location well. I appreciate an author who can write about places that are familiar to some and really bring them to life. I loved the mystery that the FBI had to solve and I learned something about diseases that dogs can carry that could be harmful to humans. Overall it is a exceptional book with top notch action, surprises throughout the story and a lesson in faith and forgiveness. Each book the author writes gets more intense, better developed and keeps readers glued to the story. It is a hard book to put down once you start reading it. I suggest you get comfortable and dive into the latest book from a very gifted author. "Those we love who hurt us shouldn't be despised because then we become imprisoned by the chains of hate." I received a copy of this book from Tyndale Blogger Program for an honest review.

Loved this new start to a series. Stacy and Alex worked so well together once they got over the initial reaction to each other. Stacey's almost foster child Whit was so much fun. How can anyone treat children in that way? This story had many changes and each was better than the last. I look forward to book two in this series. I love reading about Veterinarians and Stacey was such a nice person. I received this book from Tyndale for a fair and honest opinion.

DEADLY ENCOUNTER BY DIANN MILLS This book starts out with Stacy, a vet who volunteers to ride the airport perimeter on the weekends. None of the other volunteers are free that day so she heads out by herself on her horse. She finds a scene, a man, motorcycle down, a lab and a clearing where a drone is sitting. Alex is the FBI agent who is investigating the scene and he continually asks her the same questions over and over and that riles her as she has other things to do that day at her animal hospital. They finally get a break when she realizes his accent and what locale he's from and he recognizes hers. Story also follows Whitt and his dad. Whitt works for Stacy and she holds onto his money for college so he won't give it to his drunk father. Stacy wants to adopt Whitt as he's only 12 and bring him up better than his parents. She also tries to teach him about God but he's too hurt to understand...Also follows Alex and the leads he gets with the investigations. God is present in all the characters but some to a lesser degree, some to a stronger degree.More threats to her life and more mysteries arise...Interesting read as I learned new things: airport ranger and bio terrorism. Love all the charity and volunteer community work involved throughout the book by many.So many twists to this tale as the story goes on. Like this new series and hope to read more.I received this book from The Book Club Network (bookfun.org) in exchange for my honest review.

I recently read Deep Extraction, book 2 in DiAnn Mills FBI Task Force series and really liked it. So when I was looking for an audiobook to accompany me on my morning walks, I was glad to choose book 1 in the series, Deadly Encounter. While I liked book 2 much more, Deadly Encounter was a good choice for the daily workout — easy to listen to, quick-paced with plenty of action, and endearing characters. I did find it stretched the limits of credibility, but I chose to suspense my disbelief and join in on the rollercoaster ride.Stacy Broussard, a Houston veterinarian, is swept into a conspiracy of deceit, danger and murder when she discovers a body on her morning ride around Houston’s airport. Due to past betrayals, FBI agent Alex LeBlanc is suspicious of her involvement, but soon learns to trust her. Their chemistry is unmistakable, but will they live long enough to explore a future together?Characterization is the strongest element of Deadly Encounter. I found Stacy, Alex, and 12 year old prodigy, Whit engaging and and endearing. Whit especially stole this reader’s heart. The three all struggle with relationship issues which impact how they view themselves, others, and most importantly God. The plot is full of twists and turns and slightly over-the-top threats from unknown bad guys. As I said, some of the plot threads didn’t seem plausible, but I found them interesting anyway. One thing I did have a problem with — Stacy’s veterinary practice. She had no employees (tech/receptionist/kennel worker) and relied solely on Whit’s help in the day-to-day operations. My husband is a vet, and even when he was starting out he had several employees. With the type of business she had, it seems almost impossible for Stacy to do everything in the practice — answer the phone, run lab work, treat patients, take X-rays, perform surgery , etc. — with only a 12 year old’s after school and weekend help. But again, I enjoyed the book so I chose to overlook it.DiAnn Mills is a great storyteller, and Deadly Encounter kept me listening. I have to confess to some marathon time with this audiobook.Recommended.Audience: adults.

Title: Deadly Encounter (FBI Task Force #1)Author: DiAnn MillsPages: 400Year: 2016Publisher: Tyndale House PublishersMy rating is 5+ stars. This is the best novel yet that includes nail-biting suspense and intrigue unlike ever before from this author’s pen! I have read all of DiAnn Mills FBI themed books, but this one is top of the charts, if not off the charts! The author has always written very suspense-filled stories that are crafted after she has truly done a marvelous job of researching, so the story is authentic in many places. Here is story of an Airport Ranger who is actually a full-time vet, but volunteers to ride her horse and ride a perimeter route to make sure Houston’s airport is safe. However, unlike any of Stacy’s previous rides, she comes upon a body and discovers a drone. When the FBI agents show up, one of them makes her feel as though she is a suspect and he can’t believe she is as innocent as she appears. Special Agent Alex has had a bad experience in his professional line of work that has soured him towards believing any woman who claims she is innocent.Stacy is a vet who has been at odds with her parents for years and is trying to adopt an 11-year-old young man whose IQ makes talking to him seem like he is an adult. Whitt is the young man who has captured Stacy’s heart and it is felt both ways by the characters. Living in a rundown neighborhood and trying to adopt this young man is one Stacy’s hearts desires. Stacy also wants to be reunited with her parents after being estranged for so long so she slowly tries to bind up the broken family relationship with short weekly calls. Now, Stacy is deathly ill and so are some of those in her neighborhood. If they don’t find a serum to aid the sick or the right combination of antibiotics, some are going to die!The race heats up quick as the FBI hunts down the source of the illness and the drones sent by nefarious people. This was a quick-paced, action-filled ride that kept me up all night because I just couldn’t put the book down! For anyone looking for a novel of that nature, look no further. You’ll want to make time to read this outstanding FBI novel ASAP!Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. On one Saturday morning, what begins as a quiet ride on a well-known trail soon turns into a nightmare when Stacy discovers a dead body. Close to the body is a bloodied motorcycle—even closer is a yellow Lab, tucked against the man’s body, her leash held by the grip of the dead man’s hand. Not far from the body, Stacy finds a downed drone, and it’s the type used by psychotic individuals to blind pilots and cause air disasters. To FBI Special Agent LeBlanc, the incident screams terrorism, but he also knows to look deeper than evidence first suggests. As further unsettling events occur, Stacy and Alex are drawn together to solve the mystery and prevent another deadly encounter. With the discovery of much in common from their pasts, an awareness and attraction begins to grow.
