About this ebook

These are the voyages of the spaceship Feisty Princess.

Archaeologist Vikki Jacobs finds herself battered, bruised and in unfortunate need of help. She's been double-crossed and left for dead on a spaceship set to self-destruct. Even with odds stacked against her, she's determined to kick the ass of the man responsible and retrieve what he stole.

Enter the polar opposite half-Duarr twins, Will and Xan. Childhood friends who offer their support—and Xan's spaceship the Feisty Princess—to help her achieve her goal. But they're no longer the boys she used to boss around when they were kids. They've grown up and bring baggage and hormones into the fray...

Join the reunited friends as they hunt down the bastard who double-crossed Vikki and kick his ass!

This ongoing serial follows the descendants of some of the main characters from the Callisto Universe. Feisty Princess is the next generation but can easily be read and enjoyed on its own.

Erica Conroy

I’m Erica and I live in New Zealand—otherwise known to the rest of the world as: that pretty scenic place where they made the Lord of the Rings and all those Hobbit movies. I spend most of my time writing (also procrastinating), reading, hanging with my long suffering husband and frolicking with the neighbour’s cat. As a writer I delight in plotting evil and writing it all down for others to read and enjoy/despair–muahahahahahahahaha!

Viktoria selected another piece from the ancient collection of Volu artifacts spread before her. This one was different to the other pieces. It was a small, sealed vessel with a hole punched neatly through the top of the stem. The design was simple, almost plain, while the other pieces were more ornate. Viktoria, always attracted to anything unique, studied it carefully. In its own way, it was beautiful. But the hole in the top held her attention.

It has to be functional, she told herself. It ruins the simplistic design otherwise.

Viktoria turned it over until she could see through the hole. Absently she fingered the chain she wore around her neck. The chain had been an anniversary gift and often abused when she was deep in thought. She smiled at the memory the necklace invoked, how it had been ceremoniously draped around her neck—

That's it! she exclaimed and removed her necklace. She unclasped it and threaded the chain through the artifact. The symbol of the Volu feminine was meant to be worn. Viktoria decided to do just that and put the necklace, with the artefact, back on. She rushed to the small cleaning center in her single quarters, to see how it looked.

At least she would have if not for the flashing of warning light above her door. It meant there was an emergency on the ship. Not one to remain in her quarters like a good girl, she tucked the necklace safely away under her shirt, and ran to investigate.

Viktoria pushed open the manual door to the bridge and stopped just inside, out of the way. Her father had always taught her to take a moment to assess the situation before jumping into the fray. She didn't always follow his rules, and often ran headfirst into trouble, but the times she did followed had saved her life on more than one occasion.

The two crewmen at helm and navigation were intent on their console screens. The commander of the spaceship who sat on the podium above them, looked worried. As if he were more aware of whatever danger they were in.

What is going on? Viktoria asked as she stepped further onto the bridge.

    P-pirates, the commander replied.

Viktoria raised a surprised eyebrow and joined the navigator at his station. The readout confirmed that another vessel was approaching, but it was still a long distance from them.

What makes you think they're pirates?

They sent a message. They said they were.

Viktoria looked at the navigator for confirmation. The shake of his head was almost imperceptible. She was being lied to and it was obvious as to why. They were hauling precious cargo and the commander had it in his head to arrange for it to be plundered. Not surprising really as this was the most common method for intercepting cargo of significant value.

I'll tell Sargo, she said and left the bridge.
