    Allow me to warn you that my first few sentences may seem very edgy. But quite frankly, that's the only way you can effectively deal with a religious spirit. So before all the spiritual vigilantes, on their self-commissioned mandate to save the Church, jump on my bandwagon for writing how I write on this subject, I want to clarify whom this book is for (you do know what a vigilante is, right? If not, Google it).

    We who are invested in this writing are well aware that all true prophecy and prophetic activity direct toward, come from, and exist in Jesus Christ. We understand that everyone prophesying is not called to be a prophet.

    We understand that prophets and people called to the prophetic need pastors, covering, and accountability. We understand that there are those who operate in familiar spirits and false prophecy. We understand that the character and integrity of prophets and those prophesying are of first priority and importance for any minister—let alone a prophetic minister.

    We also understand that the best way to develop in the prophetic is to draw closer to Jesus and spend more time in His presence. We also understand prayer and evangelism should be higher on the priority list than prophesying, and the list of necessary basics goes on and on.

    I'm not writing to re-event the wheel. There are plenty of profound resources that are available to help establish individuals in the foundations of authentic prophetic ministry.

    I'm rather speaking to the prophetic nerds in this book—those who are like spiritual mechanics and engineers. You want to understand the technology of your gift.

    You don't want to just press the red button and keep it moving. You want to decipher through how the yellow wire connects to the red wire and why the green one is connected to the blue.

    If I'm speaking to you, keep reading and let's not waste any more time. Let's get straight to the point.

    Secret One

    (Understanding Prophecy vs. Word of Knowledge)

    The first secret I want to deal with on developing prophetic accuracy is the importance of distinguishing the difference between the word of knowledge and the gift of prophecy. I'm going to tackle this revelation, but I must first explain an important reality that you will need to understand about the nature of what I will share in this writing.

    There are many familiar scriptures from which I will teach in this book. Although the texts may be familiar, I don't want you to revert to a familiar place in your understanding as you read them. The truth is that there are secrets from scripture that we often overlook
