      Alert. Beep, beep, beep. Alert. Beep, beep, beep.

      The cold mechanical voice and shrill buzzer reverberated through the cavernous walls of the outpost’s concrete corridors and through the overhead speakers in each of the habitats of Outpost Omega Seven.

      Cathy froze for a second in her stooped position over the row of tomato plants she was tending in the garden habitat.
