About this ebook
Paul J. Volkmann
Paul J. Volkmann, also known as Latrobe’s Paul Harvey, has worked to bring smiles to people’s faces and make them think for a decade through his weekly newspaper column, ‘Off the Wall.” A Roman Catholic by faith, Volkmann has never been afraid to let his spiritual convictions be shown. Not only is he a fisherman, but also a fisher of men. Pee Vee or Mr. Pee Vee, as he is called by many, first had his passion for writing sparked in the late 60’s, as editor for a college page at the Ashland Times Gazette, in Ashland, OH. Volkmann continues to write his “Off the Wall,” as well as an outdoor column, “Inside the Outdoors” for The Latrobe Bulletin (PA.) He also serves as vice president and newsletter editor for the Holy Family Church’s Holy Name Society. When not at his computer, Volkmann enjoys spending time with his wife, Teri, and their grown children, Kelsey and Aaron.

Peeveetry - Paul J. Volkmann
Silence
From the 1970’s
Christmas Prayer
Winter season,
Falling snow,
Fires burning,
Cold winds blow.
Happy moments,
Men unite,
Pray for peace
On Christmas night.
Forgiveness begins in one’s heart.
Gum Pop
Do not chew
Your Double Bubble
While we’re here
At the Daily Double.
It may pop
An’ cover your face
An’ cause the horses
To lose their pace.
Asked how I am, I reply,
Fit as a fiddle, but not strung out.
Sis Bugged
Caught meself
A bug last night.
Took alikin’ to
It all right.
Wanted to show
My sister, Lil
Who took off running
And is running still!
The Greatest thing about
being wrong is learning to be right.
Read
Acquaint yourself
With lines unread;
Explore the realms unknown.
And you may find
A paradise
That may have
Been untold.
Dig down into
Life’s emptiness
And reap
That which should
Be sewn.
And assemble facts
Unknown to you to
Pacify your mind.
People who walk always looking down
never see the tops of buildings
Spring
If green was not
so ‘chlorophylled’
From stems to tips
Of leaves,
Springs colors
Would be ‘monotoned’
Housed in the nature’s sleeves.
Oh, how drab
The grass would look
If color was not there,
So, without water and
God’s touch,
The ground would soon
Be bare.
Rejoice, the time
Of year has come,
The truth will
Soon unfold.
Praise God for His
Almighty touch,
His wonders we’ll behold.
Rabbit Abbot
There is a rabbit abbot
Who lives up on the hill.
He loves to talk of Godly ways
Established by God’s will.
He reads to us from Scripture verse
Each and every day
Reminding us to keep the Word
Be thankful and to pray.
Have faith in Jesus Christ our Lord
This message He does bring,
The story’s told in
