    Dedication

This book is dedicated to you. Yes you! I can never thank you enough for coming on this journey with me. I couldn’t have done it without you.

    Thank you.

    Chapter 1

SparkleGirl watched the player leave them and again tested her restraints. It was the third time he’d gone. Each time he’d never answered any of her questions on returning. She grunted as her hands remained in place. Closing her eyes, she tried her best to teleport free from them and found nothing happen. Banging her head on the stone wall behind her, she looked over at Herobrine and saw him staring at the ground. You tried teleporting?

He nodded and looked back at the ground once more.

I swear if I could get my hands around that guy’s neck for a second I’d show him who he’s messing with. She banged the back of her head against the wall once more. Who does he think he is coming here and doing this to us…? The portal started once more and the shimmering pool in the middle rippled as the player walked through it.

Oh look, Herobrine, guess who decided to drop by and say hello. She watched him ignore her and walk to a crafting table and begin emptying his inventory. Hey baldy conscious, I’m talking to you. She thought she heard a smirk. You like that name, baldy conscious?

Smiling, he turned with two pieces of meat in his hand and held them out to both players. Eat.

In your dreams. SparkleGirl turned her head away as he placed some meat on her knee. The last thing I’m going to do is take orders from you. You come here, kidnap us and then think we’ll do whatever you want us to? She ignored the meat in front of her. I’m not eating that.

You think you’re doing yourself any favors by not eating?

Doesn’t matter, it won’t be long until my health bar runs out and I’ll respawn back to where you took us from. She listened to him laugh. You think this is funny?

He nodded to Herobrine. Looks like he doesn’t agree with you.

SparkleGirl watched Herobrine bend down and lift the meat with his teeth. Moving it around with his lips, he began chewing on it. Herobrine, how could you?

Looks like he thought this through more than you did. The player held his hands out and did a small turn. You didn’t think you could do something as simple as die and escape out of this room, did you? He smiled. Believe me, SparkleGirl, there isn’t a player in all of Minecraft that knows you two better than I do. Believe me, we’re going to be here for as long as it takes to knock some sense into that head of yours. He nodded to the meat on her knee. You should be thanking me for saving your life.

SparkleGirl ignored the meat and watched him return to the crafting table. You think we wouldn’t have been able to deal with that thing and its army?

You wouldn’t have. He carried on working. I’ve seen you two die many times trying.

But that’s not us. I know for a fact I’d have done better than any of those other SparkleGirls. Plus, I’ve got Herobrine’s serum in me. She watched him shake his head and laugh to himself. And what’s that meant to mean?

The player dropped what he was doing and grabbed a nearby chair. Taking it with him, his sat it a safe distance from her and turned its back to her. Leaning his arms across the top of it, he looked at her. So did they. He looked at Herobrine. Both of you were powerless to stop it.

Alright then, clever clogs. If you know all of this, why didn’t you stop it then? SparkleGirl lifted the meat off her knee and carefully began the process of holding it between her lips and chewing on it at the same time. She paused in mid-chew. Well?

The first time, I didn’t even know what happened. None of us did. It spread through my world and took over everything in sight. Even the hostile mobs weren’t free of its power.

And the second time? She began to chew again.

Second time it wasn’t much different. It started off with one player getting infected and then it snowballed. Then before you know it, more players are infected than not infected and the world slowly collapsed into chaos. He smiled and nodded to her. See, not bad was it?

It’s nothing much. Had better. SparkleGirl licked her lips quickly. A little overcooked for my liking.

He chuckled to himself. Well, that’s a lie.

And how do you know how well I like my meat?

He rested his chin on his arms and looked over his chair at her. I told you. I know you a lot better than you’ll ever know. Comes from meeting you two over and over again.

Alright then. Say you know us so well. How come we keep losing to this… thing?

Stupidity. He held up a hand. And I’m not just talking about yours. I’m taking about the witches, samurai and all the others that thought they could stop that thing.

SparkleGirl looked at Herobrine. You hear that, Herobrine? We’re all stupid, but this guy thinks he’s the cleverest one here. She looked over at him. Well, for the guy who is cleverest in the room, you’re not making much of a difference are you. How many times have you watched us die and not been able to help?

He looked at the ceiling above his head and mumbled to himself. Seeming happy with his answer, he looked at her. I’d say about ten times.

Ten? SparkleGirl laughed at the ceiling. Forgive me for laughing, but you’re hardly the one to be handing out advice here. Ten times and you weren’t able to stop this thing? She looked at him. And what makes you think that this time it’s going to be any different?

He looked at the surrounding room. This is the first time, I got to you before it did.

    So, all the other times?

First couple of times, I thought you’d be able to do it. But I was wrong. Once you two got infected by that black ooze… well, after that it was game over.

So, what you’re saying is that if we stayed out of this it would have ended differently?

Do you think you’d have stayed out of the battle? He looked at them. I told you I know you two well. If there’s a fight to be fought, I know neither of you could sit on the sideline and let it happen.

SparkleGirl pulled on her restraints. We’re meant to sit down here and do nothing.

The player looked at the ceiling above them. As long as I can keep you out of the mess that’s going on up there, we might have a chance to stop what’s going on.

That’s your plan? Sit here and do nothing? She looked at Herobrine. You hear this? He nodded. And we’re the dumb ones here? SparkleGirl shook her head and looked at the player. Well, here’s another thing you don’t know. We aren’t even from this place. She nodded her chin to the ceiling. That battle that’s going on up there, I couldn’t give a toss what happens to it. Let this world be taken over.

The player stretched his back and grinned. You think I don’t know that? I know she took you from your world and brought you here.

    Well, it’s her problem now.

    She’s dead.

SparkleGirl looked at him to see if he was kidding and saw he wasn’t. The witch was dead. How were they going to get home? She looked at Herobrine and could see he was having the same thought as well. They were never going home. That’s just takes the biscuit. She looked at the player. We’re stuck here?

    I dunno.

    What do you mean, dunno?

I don’t know if you can go back home.

SparkleGirl tugged at her restraints. And you expect us to sit here and not try and get home?

It doesn’t matter even if you could. It’ll only be a matter of time before it comes to your world and destroys it too.

But we’d be ready for it. She looked at Herobrine. Wouldn’t we? We’d kill that thing as soon as it put a foot in our world. Herobrine slowly shook his head. You’re not agreeing with him, Herobrine, are you?

"Herobrine knows that we have to stop this
