      Foreword

      I believe in the power of transparency. Things that are left in the darkness retain the ability to haunt you and hold you hostage. I say, Shine your light so brightly that everyone can see right through YOU – my definition of being transparent. I was overjoyed when Angela approached me regarding the concept of this book because healing requires the truth of the story: Healing is hidden behind lies and shame.

      God is a healer of all things – including physical, emotional, mental, sexual, and financial abuse. I have experienced a few of these abuses myself, and that is why I know what it means to get honest and let the truth shine from within you.

      Freedom is your birthright. Yes, you have the right to be free inside of you! Abuse takes away your freedom, but books like this help break the chains.

      Jacob wrestled with God all night long (Genesis 32). He refused to let go until he received his blessing. His limp was proof that he had been in a struggle, much like the scars of abuse – but his limp was also a sign of determination and survival. If you are wearing a battle-scar, let it be your rainbow; a sign that God kept His promise to be with you in your times of trouble. Your skin is tougher now. Your mind is wiser now. Your heart is stronger now. And your story – just like these brave authors – has the power to set captives FREE.
