A Weird Twist Of Fate - Heather Beck
Knock, knock, knock.
I’m getting dressed!
nineteen-year-old Judith called to the person who was knocking on her bedroom door.
Alright, Miss Forge,
Judith’s housekeeper, Marion, said from behind the door. But please hurry. The guests have started to arrive and your parents want you in the dining-room immediately.
I’ll be there in a minute,
Judith said through a sigh.
Judith hated the fancy dinner parties her parents always dragged her to. Tonight, Mr. and Mrs. Forge were hosting a party at their house. Throughout the years, Judith’s parents had spent endless hours telling her that she must always dress and behave properly. Judith acted like the young lady her parents wanted her to be. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the person Judith wanted to be. Judith was a Goth, but that choice of lifestyle clashed with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Forge had old-fashioned values, were very posh and thrived at formal occasions. Even though Judith wanted to wear an edgy black dress to dinner parties, she’d always worn the respectable ones her mother insisted on – until now.
Judith’s heart raced with excitement as she looked into the full-length mirror and saw the epitome of a witch staring back at her. She was wearing a tight, long black dress that had red lace around the waist. The outfit was completed with the black lipstick, eye shadow and heavy eyeliner that covered her pale face. Her long, straight black hair swung over her shoulders as she turned away from the mirror and headed out of her bedroom.
Judith was anxious to get her big entrance over with. She knew her parents wouldn’t be impressed. In fact, they would probably ground her for life. Normally, Judith wouldn’t violate their wishes. However, she couldn’t hide who she really was anymore. She wanted her parents and their friends to accept the real her. Judith was sure her parents would
