      Chapter 1

      Ava carried the laptop to the backroom, where they worked on the computers. She set it down at her station and plugged it in, then flipped it on. She made a note on the order form:  Virus, retrieve photos and My Documents, then wipe. She hoped she’d be able to recover all of Betty’s files. Viruses could be nasty and Betty had been so sweet. But older women usually weren’t the type to have any sort of backup system in place. At times like these, Ava thought of her own computer, its external hard drive and cloud backup, and knew she’d be okay if something like this ever happened to her own laptop. Though, she didn’t to tend to click on links in those suspicious emails.

      Did you see!

      He is so hot, oh my God, I can’t stand it!

      No, you have to wait on him, I can’t!

      Well, I can’t! My hair looks awful today!

      Ava opened the first folder on the computer and looked over at her co-workers, Leslie and Kate. They were huddled together, making repeated glance to the front of the store. What’s with the shrieking?

      Ava! Kate looked at Leslie and they both nodded enthusiastically.

      You have to go help the customer out front, Leslie said. We can’t do it.

      He’s sooo hot and sooo rich, Kate swooned, drawing out her so’s.

      Ava rolled her eyes. I just started this project. Get one of the guys if you can’t handle it.

      They’re all busy, Leslie said.

      No, you don’t understand, Kate said. It’s not just any super hot rich guy. It’s Aiden Cole.

      Ava glanced out front and saw Aiden, looking slightly frustrated since no one was helping him and everyone seemed to be busy. No matter who he was, she couldn’t leave a customer waiting for no reason. She sighed. You’re both useless.

      She walked out front, the sound of Kate and Leslie squealing behind her.

      Hi, can I help you? she asked.

      He smiled at her gratefully. They weren’t kidding. He was gorgeous. Close shaved blond hair and a beard to match. Those sparking green eyes were downright captivating. It also looked like he worked out, based on the size of his upper arms, which
