Courtney is shaken after finding out George’s true colors. After he tries to seduce her in working against Alex, she finds herself drawn closer to her boss instead of pulling away. As Alex begins to open up, she finds herself seeing a new side of him that she can’t stop thinking about.
Things only grow more heated when she comes with Alex to a business trip to Shanghai. The two of them try hard to deny their connection to each other. Courtney can’t help but feel an electrical connection whenever she is around him. This is the first time she has felt anything since her marriage crumbled. How is she going to handle falling for her boss?
At the same time, George refuses to step down from not getting what he thinks he is deserved. As he drums up support for himself against his own brother, Courtney grows more determined to stick by Alex’s side and see him get a firmer grip on the company.
Once again, Courtney is pulled into the fighting of a wealthy family and her own confusing feelings for her billionaire boss. She wants to do what is best for Alex but does that mean she will get left behind in the dust?
Book 3: Fighting For It

With Anderson’s promise in mind, she is determined to stand by Alex’s side, even behind the scenes. As the vote to see if Alex will remain as CEO draws closer and closer, Courtney tries to do the best she can at work.
When Alex shows up to a party with a new girl, Courtney feels her chance to be with him slip away. Was it always an impossible dream to begin with? Could a billionaire CEO and his assistant ever make things work? Courtney nurses her heartbreak and tries to be there for Alex in any way she can, trying to deal with her unrequited feelings.
As situations draw to a close for Courtney, she finds herself on the edge of her old world about to step into her new world.

Chapter One
Before Courtney knew what was happening, George was kissing her. In her shock, she didn’t move right away. Her mind was still trying to catch up to what was going on to even register that his lips were on hers.
George, let her go.
Alex’s voice rang out. George hesitated. Courtney took this chance to pull away from him completely. She stared at him horrified. Who was this person she had thought she had known? A married man who had wanted her to help him overtake the company Anderson had built. A married man who had kissed her as if that would help change her mind.
Alex had come out of the elevator. His face was blank but there was something scary about the energy he was giving off. George bristled, glaring at Courtney as if this was her fault.
She threw herself at me.
He finally said to Alex.
What?
Courtney replied, staring at him.
Did she.
Alex deadpanned.
George let out a frustrated noise and turned around, storming out of the lobby. Alex and Courtney were left alone. She realized she was shaking a little from anger and humiliation. She looked at Alex.
Alex, I didn’t go after him. Why in the world would I? I would never…not in a million…the things he was saying!
Courtney, it’s fine,
He sounded tired, I know it wasn’t you. George is an asshole.
That startled her, You believe me?
She trailed after him as he went back into the elevator.
Of course I believe you. George sleeps with anything that moves. Including my ex-wife.
Silence fell over the elevator. Courtney let this sink in. So that was why they had gotten divorced. George had slept with Alex’s wife. The barbs he had flung in their fights did have meaning after all.
I didn’t know.
She replied lamely.
Not many people do. Dad wanted to keep it quiet. George’s wife only puts up with him because she likes the money enough.
The things he was saying,
Courtney began again, That I liked your dad. He was basically saying he’d sleep with me if I helped get you out of the position.
Alex shifted. The elevator doors opened and together they stepped out. Their hands touched briefly, skin on skin. The sudden touch sent electric shocks through her. Courtney pulled her hand away quickly. The last thing she wanted Alex to think was that she was making a move on him after catching George kissing her.
Alex didn’t seem to notice their touch. Instead he looked at her.
You said no?
Of course I said no.
She replied, aghast.
I didn’t mean it like that. That you would sleep with him for any reason. But you didn’t want me to rule the company in the first place. Don’t bother denying it, Courtney. So why not jump at the chance to help get me out?
Because I promised your father I would help you, she thought but didn’t say it out loud.
Instead she shrugged, Because you’re the one Anderson put in charge.
Alex fell silent. It looked as if he was thinking about what she was saying. Courtney thought about it as well. It was true that she had promised Anderson she would help Alex. Now that George had thrown himself at her, it made her realize that there was little she actually knew about the family she had worked for with for ten years.
Had Anderson decided on Alex because George was secretly a sleaze bag? Or was there more to it than that? Courtney wished Alex would tell her. She knew she didn’t have a right to know. If Anderson had been in better health when she asked him, maybe Courtney would have known all the details. But now she would have to trust Alex.
In any case,
She said, breaking the silence, I’m not helping out George. I’m not getting in the middle of your family. I’m sticking by your side as your assistant. Right hand lady, I guess. And we have to get ready for Shanghai in two days.
Alex nodded, clearly coming out of whatever thoughts he had brewing in his mind, Okay,
He hesitated, Thanks.
Courtney hadn’t been expecting him to thank her. She nodded in reply, at a loss for words the entire night.
You should head home.
He said, turning his back to her.
Yeah, okay.
Courtney replied, hesitating – she wanted to say more, but what?
Instead she said nothing and Alex headed back to his desk in silence.
Chapter Two
Before Courtney knew it, she was getting on the plane to head to Shanghai. She had visited the other offices in the different parts of the world but never in the Shanghai branch. Alex had made sure to book tickets in first class. As they settled into their seats, Courtney found herself avoiding his gaze.
Was it silly that she had dreamt about Alex the other night? Courtney knew it was yet for some reason the dream still felt vivid to her even now. They had been in his office, talking as if they were friends. His hands brushed against hers on accident. Like in real life, the connection sent electricity through
