About this ebook

Edson states categorically the he is the reincarnation of Sherlock Holmes. When a mysterious murder occurs in the Psychiatric Hospital of Saint Genoveva, in which he is a patient, the so-called detective decides to use all his skill and cunning to solve the crime. But not everything seems to be what it is, and not always deduction and logic can identify the true suspects.

Sanatorium is a unpretentious rereading of the legendary character of Arthur Conan Doyle, bringing a Sherlock Holmes that you have never imagined.

    Sanatorium - Samuel Cardeal

    Sanatorium

A new short-story of Sherlock Holmes

    Samuel Cardeal

Inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's work

    Introduction

The following text is freely inspired by the legendary character created by Arthur Conan Doyle, and it does not necessary share any fidelity with the original work. Still, it is my simple homage to the author and his work.

    Sanatorium

    — We need to begin the investigation soon, Watson! — Said Edson, while carefully combing his short and frizzy hair.

The comb was categorically disgusting, with hair strands dating back from his several years stay in that institution. Edson always said he would clean it, but, invariably, he always left it for the next day.

    — Every minute that goes by, the clues get colder, my dear. And by my calculations, it has been more than four hours since the body was found.

    — Yeah? — Answered his colleague. Luis was seated in the lower part of the bunk bed he shared with Edson.

    — Elementary, my dear Watson! Must it be that you have not learnt anything from me?

Both inmates were together most part of the time, and Edson insisted on calling his roommate Watson, the same way that he asked that every one called him Mr. Holmes. In a worst case scenario, he accepted being called Sherlock, even though he did not like that kind of intimacy with anyone.

    — Get ready, my dear friend. Just a little more until Josias passes through here again.

    — Yeah — answered Luis, agreeing.

Luis had a very limited vocabulary. Edson knew that his colleague got into a motorcycle accident, in which he was thrown away from his vehicle and a car ran over his head afterwards.
