About this ebook
All men and women, including world champions and captains of industry, know that there is always room for improvement in the elusive pursuit of excellence and a better outcome. Mediocrity is the lot of most people and is the result of wrong thinking and focus. Mediocrity knows no better than average and is a rut. The unique approach of the text is to recognise the false conditioned beliefs and dogmas that have been conditioned in our minds by our parents, teachers, church, governments and society, and to achieve a new reality which belongs to you alone and is not the repeated symbols and values of someone else’s mediocrity. Our schools and parents generally failed in their duty to teach children the most important lessons in life which are to critically assess and adopt relationship skills / moral values / inward reflection and self-belief / the value of money and hard work / and self confidence fuelled by passion and persistence. In particular, there is no emphasis in education on the qualities of success and successful people. They are the most important lessons a child can learn, and these subjects are presently not on any school curriculum which makes our teachings unsound. The book seeks to remedy this failing and re-program your subconscious mind to a new dynamic reality to be master of your fate and destiny.
Dr Anthony White
ABOUT THE AUTHORDr Anthony White is a medical specialist, practising as a Diagnostic Radiologist. He is married to Joan who is his inspiration and support. Born in York, England, he emigrated to the then Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) with his father who had had distinguished war service in Burma, and his mother. Completing his undergraduate education in medicine in Rhodesia, Dr White spent 3 years in the Rhodesia Army as a Medical Officer in the front line of the bush war in Operation Hurricane. During that time he witnessed the best and worst of the human condition. After 18 years of general medical practice in South Africa, Dr White studied for a post graduate degree in Diagnostic Radiology. Radiology is possibly the most important specialty in medicine, as the imaging and the reporting thereon most often determines the diagnosis and treatment protocol. If the diagnosis is incorrect, the refering clinician is acting on false information and there are detrrimental consequences for the patient. Radiology teaches thoroughness, dedication, humility and above all responsibility. Throughout his life Dr White has sought to better his contribution and growth with service as his goal. Dr White pursued spiritual and material improvement as a life-long passion and believed in the power of words to effect change. He avidly collected prose and quotes that inspired the spirit and read as many inspirational self-help books as he could find, believing that if he could find a single flash of inspiration and truth the search and expense was worthwhile. After a lifetime of experience and seeing the good and bad in the world, Dr White is the eternal optimist and realised that he could make a difference to people’s lives by sharing his beliefs and passion. It was from this desire to contribute that Hey Dude! Win at Everything was researched and written.

About the Author
CHAPTER ONE
MINDSET RESET
Change your mind! From this moment on inspire yourself to see your life in a different perspective. There are three things in life that are not certain. They are success, fame and fortune. You can however significantly influence their outcomes by the thoughts and choices you make. The most important lesson in life is to make the most of every moment so that it is a life worth living and well lived. You are challenged to pursue excellence with morality as a prerequisite to giving your life meaning and pleasure. You can join the ranks of the elite band of men and women who have achieved this and who live their lives of intense fulfilment and satisfaction and who walk their talk – living and demonstrating high ideals. This is the preserve of the tiniest minority who have learned the precious and elusive secrets of success. Successful people have part luck and part destiny, but by far their wealth, fame and excellence is always hard earned and surrenders itself only to passion and persistence and is not given easily. If it was so, it would be devalued in its worth and desirability. It is from pressure that diamonds are created.
Change your life today. Don’t gamble with the future. Act now, without delay.
Simone de Beauvoir
Your present situation is not your final destination. The best is yet to come. It is better to walk alone than with a crowd going in the wrong direction. You are in control of these conscious and subconscious decisions. These decisions must be made today and not delayed because your time is short.
I do not know you, but I am sure I can change your mind about yourself in a single day with a single flash of inspiration and truth, and by the time you have read and applied this book you will have a new reality and perspective.
We all have the power within to change our lives to preferred life style choices, outcomes and meaningful relationships by changing our minds and attitudes. You are what you are and where you are due to the myriad of decisions and choices that you have made throughout your life, both big and small. You have immense personal power in the choices you make. New powerful choices require new perspective, attitudes and change of mind and mindset. The achievement of true excellence has a moral basis. There is no nobility in wrongdoing and wickedness; there is no greatness without goodness.
Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
Charles Federico Reformed Alcoholic and Founder of Syanon
The power of your mind must exist before it manifests in a material and also intangible sense. This power is that of thought and is the mind that thinks and the intelligence that creates. There must be high ideals, universal harmony and order of the power of thought for achievement of excellence. Realise this great truth and turn it to your edge in life and to your advantage.
There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that is yourself.
Aldous Huxley
To most of us life may seem a strange mixture of absurdity and riddles not easy to resolve. We often have to grope in the dark a long time before we find a light. The road we have chosen has not lead to where we think it should. Recognise and change the conditioned thinking that has been programmed into your head from your childhood by your parents, school, church, nation and society and to achieve a new reality which belongs to you alone and is not the repeated dogma, symbols and values of someone else’s mediocrity.
I cannot understand why people are frightened by new ideas.
I’m frightened by the old ones.
John Cage
Heed the messages of great entrepreneurs and visionaries like Steve Jobs who was arguably the greatest genius of our generation who changed the world, and in his address at Stanford University, knowing he was dying of pancreatic cancer said:
Your time is short. Do not waste it living someone else’s life.
Stay hungry. Stay foolish.
Steve Jobs Apple CEO
You must not let others define you; you must define yourself. If you respond to a difficult challenge according to old conditioning and teaching, your response will not enable you to fully understand the new circumstances. In order to meet the new challenge one has to denude oneself of the wrong conditioned thinking with new independent creativity. Nothing should be dogmatic, sclerotic or rigid but approached with creative understanding and a creative world with independent free thinking.
To change your mind and to follow him who sets you right is to be nonetheless the free agent that you were before you were born.
Marcus Aurelius Roman Emperor
Everything in life is a habit, even excellence. We are all creatures of habits. This must be so otherwise we would have to re-think every action and thought anew. Take for example tying your shoes or brushing your teeth. The repeated actions are subconscious and perfect and save great amounts of mental energy. A piano player does not think of every note but plays exquisite melodies naturally and without intense thought. The subconscious mind has enormous power and defines who you are. It must therefore be possible to re-program your subconscious to enact new empowering thoughts and actions to replace those that hinder your development to excellence. The future belongs to you if you want it. Break away from mind numbing conditioned social habits and conformity and its incumbent mediocrity and stifling oppression.
Habit is second nature. Change to good habits. For each individual reader, the central problem of conditioned mediocre thinking can only be solved for and by themselves. It is through self knowledge, not through belief in somebody else’s symbols that a person comes to a new eternal reality in which his destiny and being is grounded. Conclusions grounded on false knowledge are more dangerous than ignorance.
Be sceptical! Be sceptical of everything you have held as truth. Question everything and reach your own conclusions and not follow the dogma and opinions of others. If you do not, then you are a blind follower and a pawn for the next political or religious charlatan and bigot.
Carl Sagan
Our system of education and upbringing is based on what to think, rather than how to think. The liberating process of new thinking based on the choices you make, rather than on someone else’s values and symbols is an awareness to a new reality that will set you free in the pursuit of excellence. Change your mind. Change your perspective. Change your outcome. Change the world. Do not die whilst you are still alive.
It is better to be than not to be.
Auctoritates Aristotelis Medieval Propositions
Mediocrity knows nothing higher than itself, but talent instantly recognises genius. Most people live their lives with a beginning, a muddle, and an end. Most aspire only to mediocrity, and have mediocrity thrust upon them by their family, school, church and society. This is the bland leading the bland where excellence is mostly unachievable through the focus of staying in a ‘secure’ comfort zone and being accepted and conventional. Thinking laterally, creatively and ‘out the box’ is considered a mark of instability and disturbing. Take for example the attitude to Elvis Presley in the 1950’s with his ‘devil’ music and gyrating hips, as well as the attitudes to the Beatle’s long hair, both of which seem tame by modern values, but at the time were revolutionary in style and outrage and set the tone of the generation.
Thus to be independent of public opinion is the first formal condition of achieving anything great or rational whether in science or life.
G.W.F. Hegel German Idealist Philosopher ‘In Philosophy of Right’
You must release your human potential and develop character and excellence based on high ideals of morality. There is no greatness without goodness. Most people live mediocre lives far from their potential due mainly to wrong conditioned thinking. If you live in someone else’s shadow, you will never see the light. If you always face the sun, you will never see the shadows. No person who has ever lived can say they are totally satisfied with their outcome and
