About this ebook
Abu Haneefa was an Islamic scholar and an expert on Islamic law. His juristic pronouncements have held sway over the entire Muslim world for almost twelve centuries. His popularity to this day can be gauged by the fact that no other Muslim scholar has as many biographies written of him as Abu Haneefa. He had extraordinary intelligence and acumen, which he put to good use. Abu Haneefa compiled judgments on over a hundred thousand issues, a huge undertaking which took him a period of no less than 30 years. This was a difficult task as there was no prior example of this kind of undertaking. The credit of founding the principles of Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) also goes to Abu Haneefa. His compilation of issues on various aspects of Islam and their Fiqhi solutions received great acclaim throughout the Islamic world during his lifetime. His biggest achievement is collective and consultative Islamic legislation, which had no parallel at his time and was a futuristic effort to find Shariah solutions to everyday problems.

Foreword
All praise is for Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
This booklet is fourth in a series, translated from a book compiled on Muslim heroes by my good friend Naima Sohaib. The selection includes Muslim scholars, philosophers, reformers and military generals. It tells us about these unique individuals who selflessly worked for the cause of Islam.
This booklet is about an extraordinary Muslim hero from the world of learning. May Allah grant him a place in the highest levels of Jannah, and may Allah give us the ability to learn from his example and dedicate ourselves to the cause of Islam.
Abu Haneefa had unusual mental abilities and acumen, which he put to good use. His biggest achievement is collective and consultative Islamic legislation, which had no parallel at his time and was a futuristic effort to find Shariah solutions to everyday problems ahead of time. Today, we need people like Abu Haneefa to come forward and form an Islamic jurisprudence system in order to meet the needs of the 21st century.
May Allah reward Sana Dossal, Misbah Anwar and Sohaib Umar for editing this piece of work, Nadeem Siddiqui for the design work, and Asif Misbah, my husband for his constant encouragement and support.
