He is accompanied by Ariena, an elf from the Star Paths, who was there at the beginning of his world and the creation of his people. Together they find their destiny.

    Chapter 1

    "A blessing on your hearth, Nora, Náidin bowed his head and smiled, it is good to see Brina returned."

    Aye, Nora nodded, but others were not so blessed. May your heart know peace, Náidin.

    Did you see my brother or Derek?

    Nora shook her head. I did not see Derek. You'll find your brother at the temple. She placed a hand on his shoulder for a moment.

    Brina glanced at him, her expression one of sadness and pity on her half-elven face as they continued past him, her hand on her stomach. It made him uneasy on top of her mother's reply.

    He pushed through the throng of people milling about the square as he searched for Kalidin and their traveling companion. Being amidst a forest of people he stood about eye level to navel made him nervous. Their excitement created a cacophony of sound, only a word here or there standing out as he continued towards the temple. The returning rescue party gave people an excuse to stop working and gawk; a human habit he didn't understand. If they weren't expecting someone to return, why stand around?

    He shook his head. Gawking and gossip seemed something many of them found entertaining. It was good there were some people focused on doing. When the news came that slavers captured a group out foraging in the nearby woods they gathered in the square, not to plan, to talk about those missing.

    He almost canceled his contract. The call for aid came and he wished to join Kalidin. What would his worth be if he couldn't keep his word? So, he stayed behind to perform at the party.
