About this ebook

I am sorry to say that I will have to rate this book low. I received this book through the librarything.com monthly contest. It was a good story but It didn't include the ending as I would have have to purchase it. I have never come across this through librarything.com.

Excellent book! Characters are well developed. Story has many twists and turns. First book I've read by Mary Twomey, but it won't be the last. This first book in the new series is well thought out and it flows well. Fans of Lord of the Rings will like this book. Can't wait for the next one to be released.

Clever, whitty, and imaginative, Undraland by Mary Twomey is a thoroughly enjoyable, fast-paced read. This Urban Fantasy follows the adventures of Lucy Kincaid, a well-written, snarky, easily relatable college student who has endured terrible loss, as she discovers wonderful truths about herself and the world around her.It took me a chapter to get into rhythm with the Author's very modern voice, but the rest of the book was definitely worth the effort. Think the love-child of The Hobbit, Cassandra Claire, and Charlaine Harris, but from the perspective of a woman.I must, therefore, admit that I'm hooked for life! My only regret is that the next book is not yet complete.I will not go into deeper detail as I do not want to spoil the discovery of Undraland's well thought out and fascinating world of handsome men, magic, swords, fun takes on the classic fantasy races, and just the right amount of romance!-SGS, Artist and Author of History of the Acelian Empire Book 1: Acelia

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book as Lucy goes from being in a world where she has lost her parents and twin brother and a life on the move to an alternate world where there are Weres, Dwarfs, Elves and more. I laughed out loud, and felt her pain as her entire world shifted. This was a fun read with lots of excitement and revelations in each chapter. The characters are funny, sad, emotional, loving and more. Can't wait to see what happens next, how could I with the way this first book ends. The series looks promising if the next book is as good as the first. Nicely done!

Undraland is an excellent example of YA fiction. The story moves along at a reasonable pace and keeps you entertained throughout the whole book. I have to admit that I couldn't predict what was coming next as I can for a lot of others books in this category. This author does not lack for imagination! The ending while satisfying also leaves you with wanting more. Pick up your copy today!

Purely amazing! I can't say enough how much I enjoyed reading this story. Lucy is so spunky and the interactions between her and Jen are priceless. I love when authors use different folklore in their stories. I have never read a story with Scandinavian Folklore and it was a real treat to see it being used in Undraland. Overall, I give Undraland five stars! I only wish I could give it more. I recommend this book and this author. I will be reading more from her and the next book in this story, Nokken. I received this free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I received a copy of this book through LibraryThing's Early Reviewers program. This fantasy book covers relatively new ground in exploring Norse myths instead of the more common Celtic myths beloved of fantasy authors. This hooked me in from the start as I have always loved Norse myths. The only down side to this was the problem I had with readjusting my ideas of "tomte" which, for me, are based on a mix of "Nils" and Christmas traditions. I managed this eventually and settled down to enjoy the ride.It was a fun ride too. The book is written in a particularly well done first person narrative which holds its interest even when the heroine's many foibles become wearing. Lucy, the narrator and heroine, grated on me as she didn't always successfully walk the line between sassy/amusing and whiny/pathetic and her mix of maturity/immaturity and teenager angst wore thin.Despite the story being what I would consider very standard fantasy fare (ie, "normal" person discovering she is not normal and entering another world to fulfill her destiny type of thing), this is an enjoyable read - nothing too deep, a fairly fresh mix of myths and beings and a new world to explore. It is a good book to curl up with in a comfy corner and block out the world for a few hours.
