மாணவ மாணவிகள் அனைவரின் பார்வைகளும் ஒருசேர வகுப்பு வாயில்புறம் நோக்கியதைக் கவனித்த விரிவுரையாளர் தமது பார்வையையும் அங்கே செலுத்தினார். வகுப்பறை வாயிலில் தயங்கியபடி நின்றிருந்த ரமாவைக் கண்டதும் அவர் முகத்தில் புன்னகை தோன்றியது.
என்ன? லேட்டா?
ஆமா, சார்.
பஸ்ஸை மிஸ் பண்ணிட்டீங்க, அதானே?
இல்லே சார். பஸ்தான் என்னை மிஸ் பண்ணிடிச்சு.
வகுப்பறை சிரிப்பில் ஆழ்ந்தது. விரிவுரையாளரும் சிரிப்பில் கலந்து கொண்டதுதான் வியப்புக்கு உரிய ஒன்று. அது ரமாவுக்கென்றே உள்ள ராசி. ரமாவின் இடத்தில் வேறு எவரேனும் இருந்திருந்தால், ‘அதிகப்பிரசங்கி’ எனும் கடுஞ்சொல் விரிவுரையாளரின் எதிரொலியாக இருந்திருக்கும். அவரது முகத்தில் சிரிப்புக்குப் பதில் சிடுசிடுபபுத் தோன்றி இருக்கும்.
காரணம் ரமாவின் வியக்க வைக்கிற பேரழகு. அதுமாதிரி ஓர் அழகைப் பார்த்தே இருக்க முடியாது என்று நினைக்க வைக்கிற அழகு அவளுடையது. சக மாணவர்கள் மட்டுமல்லாது விரிவுரையாளர்களும் அவர்களோடு சேர்ந்து வழிவதிலும் வியப்பு இல்லை. மாணவிகளிடம் வேறுவகையான ‘வழிசல்’ அவள்பால்' இருந்தது.
அதாவது அவர்கள் மனங்கள் பொறாமையால் ததும்பி வழிந்து கொண்டிருந்தன.
விரிவுரையாளரின் புன்னகையினின்று, தனது தாமத வருகை மன்னிக்கப்பட்டுவிட்டதைப் புரிந்து கொண்ட ரமா தன்னிருக்கைக்குக் சென்று அமாந்தாள். அவள் வகுப்பறை வாயிலில் தோன்றியதிலிருந்து தன்னிருக்கையை அடைந்து உட்காரும் வரையில் அவளைப் பார்வையால் தொடர்ந்தவர்களில் ரகுபதியும் ஒருவன். அநேகமாக எல்லா மாணவர்களின் விழிகளும் அவள் மேல் பதிந்திருந்தாலும், அவர்களில், ஒருவனின் பார்வையில் மட்டும் காதல் இருந்தது. மற்றவர்களின் பார்வைகளில் ஒரு பிரமிப்பு மட்டுமே தென்பட்டது.
