    The Programmer High-Tech Sci-Fi - Claire Manning

    Chapter 1

    Northern California...

Steph and John, two dropout high school teenage computer geeks who loved to hack around their neighbourhood at night, got in John’s black and red Kia Soul and slowly roamed throughout the city. They drove through the business areas, government buildings, the university and educational buildings and the entertainment section. As part of their routine, they also checked out high end residential areas where business executives, entertainment moguls, movie stars and top sports figures resided looking for any weaknesses they could exploit.

They were both red heads, their faces covered in freckles. They looked much younger than their actual age of seventeen.

Steph was the outspoken one who never backed down and ensured that they got full value from interested buyers for their hacked data.

John was the complete opposite, keeping everything inside, introverted and really shy. He was the quiet doer of the whole hacking operation. The combination of their talents made them a perfect pair to perform their chosen profession.

Both had a very different way of dressing. Steph always wore his jeans one size too large, T-shirts and sport jackets with cowboy boots, while John was more into his skinny pants and very colorful bowties, wearing Calvin Klein slim fit cotton shirts and Clark’s shoes without socks. They were both from upper class families and were very spoiled.

Equipped with the most sophisticated high tech equipment they could put their hands on, they were able to, within a very short time, hack any computer without being located by the anti-hacking squad which was feared by many but not by Steph and John and their fellow group members. Both highly computer skilled, they had surpassed the technology of any of the existing anti-hacking squads around the world and were very proud of their achievements. They knew they were very smart and capable in their chosen field of endeavor.

While they succeeded at being able to hack anyone, when they started their thrilling experiment, they never thought that they would unravel stories that would seem so odd and completely fiction to others. Their findings were far from being ordinary. The social veneer of celebrities, foreign leaders, dignitaries and VIPs was by far a new reality from that which they showed in front of the camera. Steph and John had made available their personal and private information for purchase to the highest bidder.

They had a very sophisticated way of selling their information; getting bids through several layers of passwords and encryptions, this proved to be completely uncrackable to the anti-hacking squad as it was completely undetectable in cyberspace and their reach extended planet wide. Their squad’s search would end there as any trace of intrusion stopped there.

Billions of bitcoins were available and had become a hot commodity among opportunists and this form of finance served their purpose well. John and Steph became very rich using this monetary system.

The findings of their hacking were exposed to the day light – lots of scandalous acts including pots de vin in order to front or represent causes. Causes that would have never been endorsed otherwise and labelled as such by the celebrities involved. A lot of these frauds were exposed as these celebs were doing quite the contrary in their real lives as soon as they were out of sight of the camera.

Their distain towards the general population was put in the spotlight. Some of these courageous commitments were so ridiculous and exposed the high degree of hypocrisy used to persuade and encourage people in the developed world to diminish their consumption of fuel. After their touching statements calling on the world to participate in the cause, they flew in their private jets to their routine elite gatherings.

They, despite all their talk about carbon footprints and the damage to the Earth, were actually some of the major producers of carbon emissions in society with their jet travel, huge SUVs, Hummers and in some cases, two or three houses; they were actually the ultimate hypocrites.

They really didn’t care in what terms they described the future world, during their lectures to kids at school, they had no thought of the trauma they were creating in the kids by telling them that their planet was soon be doomed and that everything would die if nothing was done about these adult generations continuing pollution.

Several cases of fraud, hypocritical statements exposing their dealings were caught on camera and a lot of financial buy outs all around the world were exposed which gave incredible details pertaining to the banking world and its involvement.

This included shocking information as to how the Vatican had managed to keep its wealth and even augmented during the era of the Second World War by making deals with groups like the Rothschild family and even with the Nazis and fascists: Hitler and Mussolini. It was not only the Vatican that had and was still operating on the basis of corporate profits trumping anything else.

They were completely shocked when they found out the behaviour of some of largest and most important corporations in the world in the US and other western countries and their deals with the government of Germany and Italy during the Second World War. Without these corporations, Hitler and Mussolini could not have had any type of war machinery.

Both Steph and John just loved what they were doing. They didn’t care to whom they were giving the information. It went to the highest bidder. Many of their clients would come back to them on a regular basis as they always got full value for their money. The data was always backed up with proof so they had no problem using it. No one was able to contest the veracity of the data. They got paid and that was their satisfaction. Many from all levels of society joined them in the pursuit of getting information broadly published. It had become a very strong and very well paid clandestine network.

The anti-hacking squad had their hands full with requests to take action and stop this false propaganda from invading the cyber world and creating havoc in the ranks of the individual exposed thus diminishing their popularity. This in some cases would take the shine off their images and cutting into future well paying opportunities.

They had been enjoying the thrill of their illicit activities for quite a while and with the money being more than plentiful, they could afford to continue to create while improving their software intelligence applications, with the latest sophisticated hardware, they could put their hands on, they always kept in mind their ultimate goal - Always remain ahead of the worldwide anti-hacking squads. It had really become a continuing game of cat and mouse.

One night, they ended up roaming an upscale city street where there were high thick fences and surveillance cameras surrounding luxurious mansions belonging to the rich and famous of the entertainment world. And once again, they had succeeded in invading what was thought to be impenetrable. Nothing was too sophisticated for them to handle. They could disable the security systems outside and inside the homes with a click of a button. Everything from their intelligent TV to their computer, tablets was hacked in seconds, making them able to retrieve valuable information that was inaccessible to others.

    - OK, I think we are done for tonight. Let’s go home; we have collected plenty of good stuff said Steph.

    - It has been a very fruitful evening; they haven’t come close to catching us! What a blast! You know, I really enjoy doing this. I’ll take the highway; we will get home faster, said John.

John took on the wheel and started the engine. They both had a good laugh while Steph pressed the AC/DC best hits’ from his iPod. They couldn’t get enough of the Back in Black song.

They were generations away from the year that song hit the waves but every time they heard it, they couldn’t help it, they were ecstatic.

    Chapter 2

    The Pine forest

Having left his equipment turned on between the two of them on the front seat, Steph realized that the equipment was emitting signals that he was
