    MORNING FRESH AIR

Beautiful sunrise. A woman is jogging in the street. She is fit and strong, well defined muscles. Late forties. Wears a baseball cap. SF GIANTS. Wears shades. She’s running with a beautiful, leashed dog, a Husky.

As she approaches a crossing street, she waits for the green light to continue her morning routine.

A person in a wheelchair is on the other side of the street waiting to cross.

There is a truck that just stopped beyond the line for pedestrians to pass. The green light appears now.

The woman proceeds to cross and so the person in his wheelchair. She realizes that the truck is blocking both ways.

As she gets closer, she signals to the driver to back off a few feet, he acknowledges her request and backs off, now they can cross.

As they do so, the man in his wheelchair says to her:

    Thanks Emma.

    You’re welcome Harry. she replies.

As she continues her morning exercise, she waves and greets people who know her in her neighborhood.

    BURNING CALORIES AT HOME

Emma takes the husky to the backyard, gets it a bowl of food.

She has her own small gym at home. She starts to work out by jumping rope, punching and kicking the bag, push-ups, pull-ups.

Session is over for today. Gets to the shower.

There are some special photos in the wall of the gym.

Back in the day when she was in the Special Forces.

During training, sharpshooting, parachuting, bear hand fighting, underwater exercises of resilience and many more…a real tough cookie.

    Done with the shower.

She wears jeans, black belt, black shoes, wears a small amount of make-up.

In the driveway there’s a bike and when she turns it on the throttle of the motor is unequivocal…It’s a powerful Harley Davidson.

She proceeds to ride it outside the driveway.

Her destination is Church. For a special occasion.

    CHURCH

The church is full. The environment feels somber.

The occasion is to remember a member of the community who just passed away from lung cancer.

His casket is in the front. In the first row is his widow and their two children.

The Father is talking to the congregation about difficult times, hardship and how they as a community can help each other is such times.

Two kids are collecting money with their baskets, as they return to the front, the Father looks at the baskets in dismay, they are almost empty. His face says it all.

There’s a woman who’s sitting in the front row and just saw what happened and is not happy.

She gets up, talks to the Father for a moment and takes the microphone from him.

    "Good morning, How’s everyone?

good? Well I’m glad, because I’m not okay…" she continues.

"And you could ask yourselves, why in the world is this woman not okay?

Well, you see I do have a problem here, our dear Father has talked to us about how we can help each other in difficult times and how we praise ourselves as a close community in which we feel proud of belonging to because we feel the support of our friends and neighbors when we are in need…and what do we do?

This is what we do…" (showing the almost empty baskets to the crowd.)

Now this is unacceptable…so please I am asking you to help our sister here and her children…but in order to have credibility I have always believed that you just can’t talk the talk, you have to walk the walk.

(getting a 20 dollar bill from her pocket and putting it in the basket.

See I did my part, now you have to do yours…

(signaling to the kids to go back with their baskets.)

And the amount of money that you contribute is not relevant, what is relevant however is that you give whatever you can give, what you can give from the bottom of your heart…That’s what really matters…

The kids are collecting money now. Husbands, wives, teens, everybody is giving now.

The kids return to the front row with the baskets…full.

    The Father is smiling now.

    The woman is smiling now.

Thank You Emma. Says the Father.

    You’re welcome Father. Replies Emma.

"You see…this is the kind of difference that all of us can make when we are together…when we decide to help, to change, to work for a
