About this ebook

Super heroine in peril fiction at its finest!

Sometimes the super heroine doesn't win.

Young, beautiful, and powerful, Ms Amazing is Synne City's premier super heroine. The Russian Mafiya with their Trifecta of Evil Supers is giving the Super Heroine Corps hell, and now a wicked witch, calling herself Femme Fatale, has blown into town hell-bent on destroying Ms Amazing.

With her personal and heroine lives going crazy, Ms Amazing feels besieged. Indeed, the very survival of every one of Synne City's heroines is in doubt if they cannot dig deep and find a way to combat the increasing numbers of their mortal enemies.

First, one extremely wicked witch has to be stopped at all costs.

This super heroine in peril, urban fantasy story is quite explicit. It gets down and dirty, showing the dark side of costumed vigilantism. For adults 18 years old and above who are not easily offended.

This is a story of approximately 31,300 words. This is a great story if you want a fun super heroine in peril romp.

Synne City Super Heroines in Peril

A new economic force has moved into Synne City. Russian billionaire Alexander Rubashkin was expanding to America. Barbara Daul was bumped down to the third richest person in the city, behind Armand Germaine and now Rubashkin. She didn't really care about that, but then he met with Armand Germaine within days of arriving. Word was their meeting hadn't gone that well, which was good for her.

Mr. Rubashkin and his people are waiting, ma'am, Olivia said. Her personal assistant stood just inside Barbara's vast office, about fifty feet away. The pretty brunette was tall and impeccably dressed, as was all of her staff. They followed their boss's lead, wearing nothing but the finest feminine office wear. They are waiting in the board room, along with your people.

Thank you, Olivia. Have they been offered refreshments?

    Yes, ma'am.

Barbara glanced at her monitor. She'd been doing research on Mr. Rubashkin and his company. Nothing untoward to speak of. Doing business in post-Communism Russia could be tricky, so not everything he did was considered legal in the United States. It seemed he had butted heads with the Russian mafiya a few times, but managed to keep them at bay. Not an easy thing to do. Barbara understood how hard it could be, since she had some business interests in Russia as well.

Well, let's find out if we can do business with Rubashkin International, she said as she stood.

Barbara smoothed down her dark gray, pen-striped pencil skirt. She wore a white silk blouse under her suit jacket. Her long black hair was pulled back out of her face and into an elaborate French Braid. She accessorized with diamond stud earrings, a single silver bangle, and black pumps.

Olivia closed her office door, and opened the door three feet away. That door opened into the conference room. As the owner of the company, and its Chairman and CEO, she didn't have to walk far. People came to her.

The clacking of her stilettos on the hardwood floor caught everyone's attention and all eyes turned to her as she entered. Barbara rather liked being the center of attention, so gave them all a friendly smile and nodded at Alexander.

Good afternoon, Mr. Rubashkin, she said. And welcome to Synne City.

It was the first time she'd met him face-to-face, though she'd seen TV coverage of him a few times. He was getting around, doing charitable work, ingratiating himself with the local citizenry and media. It all looked good on the surface, but it was just good business as well. It didn't mean he was a good person, or even someone she wanted to do business with.

Please, Ms Daul, call me Alexander, he said, rising from his chair.

In person he was much more attractive, with just a touch of gray in his dark hair. From her research Barbara knew he was forty-five and a widower with three daughters. The eldest was twenty-five, and all three worked as his assistants. He never remarried. Since she never bothered to check on the daughters, they surprised her by being a blonde, a brunette, and a redhead. Odd that. And though they were conservatively dressed, she could see they were tall, gorgeous, and quite busty. It made her wonder if they were all Amazons, like herself.

Only if you call me Barbara, she replied, her smile widening.

His genuine smile and that twinkle in his eyes held her attention a long second. She rarely instantly liked or disliked people, as a rule, but Barbara already liked Alexander. There was just something about him.

A charming rogue? she thought. That might be the reason for all of his success.

Barbara accepted an unopened bottle of chilled water and sat down at the head of the board table. Alexander sat at the other end. Most leaders conducted business in a less obvious show of power and status, but it wasn't her style. She was the boss and everyone needed to understand that. Her company wasn't a democracy.

So, Mr. Rub… I'm sorry, Alexander, Barbara said, giving him a nod. You only asked for a few minutes, so I'm guessing you aren't going to propose any joint business ventures today.

Not today, he said. She was surprised by his mastery of English. His accent was distinctive, but quite faint. If she didn't know otherwise, she'd think he was born in Russia, but grew up in America. I am going around visiting all of the local business and community leaders, getting to know my new neighbors. Though, I must admit, I've admired all of your selfless community and charitable work from afar, so it is an honor to meet you.

    Oh, he's good, Barbara thought.

High praise from a fellow philanthropist, she said. I am especially impressed with all you've done to improve education in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The smart phone in her jacket vibrated. Barbara tensed ever so slightly. It wasn't her personal phone. She never took that to a meeting. It was her secret super heroine phone. She'd only be called in an emergency. That was a call she really needed to take, but she was loathe to offend Alexander. She felt drawn to him. Felt they could do business.

Reaching into her jacket, Barbara noticed every eye in the room drop to her chest. It was the first time she'd noticed Alexander staring at her chest, though most of the other men in the room were constantly glancing at it. As a descendant of the legendary Amazons, she had a chest made to pull in men's eyes.

Excuse me. I'm sorry, I forgot to turn off my phone, she said. So embarrassing.

Pretending she was turning it off, Barbara checked the screen. The call was from the Police dispatcher, with a follow up text, saying, Police engaged w/witch. Need help desperately.

Her breath caught. Witches were rare. They were super heroines on steroids. Super heroines who manifested magical powers were called witches, and generally were the leaders of teams of super heroines. Synne City's witch was Jazz.

Is there a problem, Barbara? Alexander said, looking worried.

What? Oh, she said, feeling discombobulated. Pulled in different directions. Too often civilian Barbara's life and her alter ego Ms Amazing's life butted heads, providing her with more and more complicated challenges. I'm sorry, it's a news alert. Apparently there is some evil witch causing havoc in the city. Here in downtown.

A witch? he said, glancing sharply at the floor to ceiling windows. Synne City has a witch to protect it, am I right?

Yes, Barbara said, pulling herself together. I'm not sure why I panicked. Well, I was a victim of a witch once, a few years back. But like you said, our City Witch, Jazz, will take care of the situation. I'm sure a super heroine or two will help her, as well.

Synne City has quite a few super heroines, Alexander's redheaded daughter said. She was sitting immediately to his right. All three daughters looked a little distracted, maybe even worried. Highest per capita in the world, if I understand it correctly.

Yes, we do, she said. And you are…?

Forgive me, Alexander said, indicating the redhead. This is my middle daughter, Dominika. He indicated the brunette on the other side of her, And that is my youngest, Sofia. And turning to his left, And this is my eldest, Anastasiya.

    Call me Ana, she said.

Barbara remained cool and friendly on the outside, but inside she raged. She was being kept from going to help the police by a social call. As much as she'd liked Alexander right away, he was causing her such turmoil. She had an out, as much as she hated using it on such nice people.

Covertly pressing a button under the table, she continued speaking to Alexander and his daughters. After all, his eldest daughter was her age. All three of the Russian women wanted to know who the designers were of her clothes and shoes. A subject she adored to discuss ad nauseam, but not when lives were in the balance elsewhere.

The intercom on the table buzzed, and Olivia's stressed voice came out, Ms Daul, sorry to interrupt, but we have a situation.

Barbara feigned shock, looking down the table at
