Mana is a part Maori boy living with his solo mum in a slum on the capitol's outskirts.He uses his intelligence to win a prestige scholarship at a boys' boarding college. This is jeopardized when he is forced to turn to gang members to cover his mother's cancer treatments. He pairs up with twins Rachel and Richard who help steer him through his crisis and overcomes gang allegiance, police intimidation and outright warfare to be awarded a scholarship at Yale University. He is unwillingly thrown into the world of international drug traffic and deep sea oil drilling and culminates with surviving Hurricane Hitler. Non stop drama.

John Jarvis

John Jarvis retired from martial arts in 1988 after twenty-five years of practice. He was Australasia's most qualified teacher holding 16 black belts in five different disciplines and one of the few men to achieve the 100-man fight. He began his studies in London, lived in Japan for a year in 1967 and has made five return visits, the last in 1989. John has had a parallel career in secondary school teaching, specialising in physical education and religious studies. He is a former consultant editor to International Martial Arts and a contributing editor to South Pacific Martial Arts. His autobiography is Kurosaki Killed the Cat. John is retired and lives on his yacht Gulliver in Wellington, New Zealand. John is also the author of the following books: Zakari East of Hydaspes Valley Low
