Conventional & Complementary Curing - Dr Timothy Panashe
Foreword
The world is a dynamic place. Nothing remains the same for very long. The way we may have approached issues yesterday is not necessarily the same way we do today. The systems of government have not been able to escape change either. The monarchical structures of medieval Europe, those of Africa (dictatorships included), Latin America and the world over have had to give way or are in the process of giving way to democratic practices. What has remained stubbornly apparent in the political evolutionary or revolutionary developments experienced by humanity to date is the refusal by people to be dictated to.
The practice of medicine and subsequent healing or curing process cannot escape change either. Gone are (or should be) the days when a patient would simply enter into a doctor's office, the doctor examines the patient and dictates to the patient what is wrong with them and the medication they must receive. For the practice of medicine to thrive, relationships based on mutual trust and team effort need to develop between doctor and patient or medical team and patient.
As the sufferer, the patient needs to have a decent understanding concerning the nature of their ailment, the symptoms they exhibit and be able to articulate these clearly to the doctor or professional health care provider. Elsewhere in the world where these symbiotic relationships have been developed between professional medical care provider and patient, even cases of misdiagnosis have been drastically reduced. Dependent upon the specialist services of the medical care provider, the patient also needs to be empowered and enlightened with knowledge.
The objective of this book is to empower the patient to enable them to make informed choices and to do so using simple layman's terms or language. Choices should not be seen as starting and ending in respect of who to receive medical services from only, but also what kind of medications to purchase as well as what else the patient can do to help the healing or curing process. At the end of the day it should all be about the patient because without patients there would be no doctors or medication dispensers, but without doctors or medication dispensers patients would still be there galore. Often at the point of purchasing medications, patients sometimes find themselves in a vulnerable position. One good example has to do with medication to stop diarrhoea. Often, dispensers will always attempt to sell the more expensive medications first, yet the cheaper generic ones work just as effectively.
