    Introduction

Living in a more organized space will help you run your life more smoothly. You will get things done faster, find things easier and feel more relaxed in your home. The goal of this book is to motivate you to get organized while offering you some helpful insider tips that will help you let go of clutter and make your space more functional and aesthetically pleasing.

You absolutely do not have to read this book in order. I have made each chapter based on a single room or type of space, so if you want to focus on one specific room in your house that is bothering you, you can start on the corresponding chapter. I have ordered the chapters in a way so that if you do follow the book they go from easiest to hardest.

The easiest rooms to organize are functional rooms like kitchens and bathrooms. The clutter you have in these rooms is mostly related to some sort of task. Throwing away things that do not work is easy. As you move into the bedroom and your closet though, many of the things you will be throwing away might have memories connected to them. It is important to build some momentum in the kitchen or the bathroom before you move into spaces where the lines between prized possessions and old junk becomes blurry. If you have organized and reduced the clutter in a few rooms before you get to your closets and bedrooms, you will be so fed up with the organization process, and so tired of rummaging through endless piles of stuff, that you will be harsher in your elimination process. Needless to say, if you are planning on overhauling and organizing your entire house, it might be a good idea to follow the text in order.

Whatever your personal plan is, the way you use this book is up to you and it is written in a way so that you can dip in and dip out as you please.

Another note to keep in mind is that this book is not meant to be prescriptive in any way. You do not have to follow every step perfectly. In this project you are your own boss (I will remind you a few times throughout this book) and so if you do not completely agree with some of my advice or if you
