About this ebook

FELLOWSHIP WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT It is not possible to enjoy the benefits of something when we do not know it. It applies also to the issue of the Holy Spirit: we do not enjoy his works when we do not know him. Therefore the Holy Spirit came so that we may fellowship with him: He is the best Teacher, the best Reminder, the best Visionary Leader, He Renews and Increases God's Power in us, He is the Lord of the Harvest, He is the Spirit without Limit and everything He does in us and through us is to Glorify Jesus. When we fellowship with the Holy Spirit, He brings to our attention: things never seen, never heard and never conceived by the human mind, so that we may be fruitful here on earth and live the purpose for which God created us.

    Introduction

It is not possible to enjoy the benefits of something when we do not know it. It applies also to the issue of the Holy Spirit. We do not enjoy His work because we do not know Him. Jesus Christ knew and understood the Holy Spirit very well. It is the Holy Spirit, which led Jesus Christ into the desert to be tempted (Matthew 4 and Luke 4). Jesus Christ did not fall into temptation. This episode shows that when the Holy Spirit is in control, we will not fall into temptation. That is why Jesus came out of the desert victorious.

"May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all."2 Corinthians 13:14

The Holy Spirit came so that we can fellowship with him. The scriptures above reveals to us that we do not relate to the Holy Spirit in the same way we relate to the Father, God or to the son, Jesus. In John 14:16 Jesus said that he would send another one of his nature, the Holy Spirit whom he called the comforter. The Holy Spirit is also God. However, the only thing that makes them different is the fact that Jesus was revealed in a human form, in a body. For the Holy Spirit, He is a supernatural spirit. We cannot see him with our naked eyes. He is with us presently. Jesus appointed disciples to help him preach the word. Jesus could be with his disciples, but not in them. He can be in some one through the Holy Spirit.

    God the Father

The Bible says that let the love of the father be with you. Moreover, it says again in John 3:16 that for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. This means that the love of God is unconditional. God allows rain to rain upon the upright and those that are wicked. Some blessings are upon the wicked because God loves the world. Because of his love, a sinner may even live longer than a righteous person does. God is not strict with someone who does not respond to his love. He wants to show that he loves him.

    God the Son

Grace is a non-merited favour. Jesus deals with us based on grace. We are saved not because we are clever, but because of the grace of Jesus. This grace is like the love of God, we do not need to be qualified to benefit from it.

    God the Holy Spirit

With the Holy Spirit, things work differently. With Him, what counts is communion or relationship. Communion implies communication with the Holy Spirit. It is not possible to communicate effectively if we are not in good talking terms with the Holy Spirit. We need to be one and speak the same language with the Holy Spirit. Unlike love and grace, communion is not one way it is a mutual agreement between the Holy Spirit and us. If we do not relate properly with the Holy Spirit, He will not work for us. If we want Him to work effectively for us, we have to reply positively to His teachings. His teaching will increase our knowledge and improve our communion with Him.

The Holy Spirit led Jesus in the desert to teach Him. After fasting for 40 days and nights, the Bible says that Jesus returned with the power of the Holy Spirit. .Had Jesus not obeyed the Holy Spirit possibly, Jesus would not have returned from the desert victorious. If we do not fellowship with the Holy Spirit, we will not have the necessary power to fight demons and their activities.

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour." Luke 4:18-19.

The Holy Spirit helped Jesus to preach, to heal and proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour. The Year of the Lord is an environment where things succeed. It is a season of results. A season where you do not harshly toil to get ends results. When we are in fellowship with the Holy Spirit, he will give us the healing and deliver us from all the sinful activities. He will also bless us abundantly in our lives. The Year of God’s Favour is a season when we receive things not because we deserve them but by the grace of the Lord. Sin is what stops the Holy Spirit from working effectively in our lives. Anybody can develop a habit of fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit. All what he should do is to spend more time with the Holy Spirit. You need find quality time for prayer and meditation of God’s word. Fellowship with the Holy Spirit depends on our relationship with God. "And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask for anything in my name, and I will do it".

    Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

If you love me, keep my commands. Moreover, I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever- the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you." John 14: 13 - 17 Jesus said if we are unable to follow his commands, it means that we have no faith in Him. We need to believe in Him at all times if we want to succeed in what we are doing.

    Faith Must Be Developed

Our capacity to believe depends on what Jesus said. It takes fellowship with the Holy Spirit to develop faith. The more we are familiar to the Holy Spirit the more we see what He sees.

There is no faith if we are out of the Holy Spirit, moreover reading the Bible without the Holy Spirit is just religion. We need to know how to fellowship with the Holy Spirit because he is the centre of Christianity. The more we fellowship with Him the more we grow spiritually. Verse 13 in the above passage means that anything you can ask in Jesus Christ name’s it will be given to you. The world cannot receive the word of truth because it does not have what Jesus has. Jesus prayed to his Father to give us the Holy Spirit and the father gave us the Holy Spirit on the day of the Pentecost (Acts 2: 1- 4). God gave us the Holy Spirit so that we can succeed in all work as believers of the truth God. If we fail to do well in our work, it is because we are not fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit. There are seven things we need to know about the Holy Spirit:

    He is the Best Teacher

He is the Best Visionary Leader

    He is the Best Reminder

He Renews and Increases God’s Power

He is the Lord of the Harvest

He is the Spirit Without Limit

    He Glorifies Jesus

    Chapter One

    The Best Teacher

As there are different levels at normal universities, so is the case with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is like the earthly university. The Holy Spirit is ready to teach all the courses. There are no short cuts when it comes to the Holy Spirit’s programs; he teaches all the courses without limitations. We must learn to give him quality time for him to teach us properly. The book he uses is the Bible where lessons are found in an objective and detailed way.

"Be stunned and amazed, blind yourselves and be sightless; be drunk, but not from wine, stagger, but not from beer. The LORD has brought over you a deep sleep: He has sealed your eyes (the prophets); he has covered your heads (the seers). For you this whole vision is nothing but words sealed in a scroll. And if you give the scroll to someone who can read, and say, Read this, please, they will answer, I can’t; it is sealed. Or if you give the scroll to someone who cannot read, and say, Read this, please, they will answer, I don’t know how to read. The Lord says: "These people come near to me with their mouth and honour me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught. ." Isaiah 29:9-13

We receive things from the Holy Spirit through holiness, which is his class. When we approach God without holiness, we will be like the people described in Isaiah 29. Holiness has to be our life style. If we make fellowship with the Holy Spirit as our lifestyle, he will make sure that we understand everything He teaches us. In the book of John 6:63, Jesus says that his words are spirit and life, so the words that the Holy Spirit teaches us are also spirit and life. While teaching us, the Holy Spirit makes sure that our faith is also increasing.

    The Holy Spirit Instructs

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." Psalms 32:8

Anyone who is learning increases his level of knowledge. There is something that only the Holy Spirit can do and that is He brings the Anointing beyond knowledge. He increases also the level of faith and makes us spiritually unbreakable, that is why when we pray, we must express faith.

The verb in the subheading above is to instruct. If the Holy Spirit marks Fail on our scripts, it is because He wants to counsel us. If we understand the Holy Spirit and if it happens that, we fail, we have to remember that he is our counsellor. Fellowship with the Holy Spirit is what guarantees success or an ever-winning life for those who are in Christ. We have been saved by Jesus who came from heaven, for us to have abundant life (John 10:10, "The thief comes only to steal, to kill and to destroy, but I came so that my sheep will have life and have it to the full.").

The Holy Spirit came so that the church will always be successful. Jesus came not to establish a church that will be in slavery again, but to build a prosperous church where sickness, poverty and curses is conquered. The standard of doing things is Jesus He said that anyone who believes in him would do great things than the one who did not believe. Jesus never failed in all his assignments therefore; we are to follow his footsteps to fulfil God’s plans. For fellowship with the Holy Spirit to take place, we must know what He has to do in our lives. Eight things make fellowship with the Holy Spirit possible.
