Extract of a Review

The author eloquently defines Ecclesiastes 3, pointing out that, by freely accepting God's will, she has been amply blessed with a faithful family, loyal mentors, good friends, and a full life.
She successfully leaves her readers with a message of hope and inspiration by sharing her belief that, through introspection and prayer, one may find meaning within the events of their own everyday experiences.
She appears to be a firm proponent of the old adage, "When days seem at their darkest, surrendering and trusting in the divine will ensure peace and prosperity".
All in all, I found this book to be quite engaging.
The author's reflections on her childhood were beyond charming in some spots, yet brought me to tears in others.
Her candidness about her relationships with parents, siblings, husband, and her own children reminded me so much of my own family's saga, and I must admit that I was thrilled to find a read that tugged at my heartstrings the way this book did!
For any individual seeking solace and meaning in today's hectic world, "Your TIME is NOW: A Time to be Born and a Time to Die" is a beautiful and soulful read.
Thank you, Brenda Mohammed, for sharing your journey with me!"

Your Time is Now - Brenda Mohammed

    INTRODUCTION

    ––––––––

These verses in Ecclesiastes Chapter 3: Verses 1 to 8, have always inspired me.

The Byrds have made a beautiful song using these words.

It is one of my favorite songs.

"There is a time for everything, a season for every activity under heaven.

A time to be born and a time to die.

A time to plant and a time to harvest.

A time to kill and a time to heal.

A time to tear down and a time to rebuild.

A time to cry and a time to laugh.

A time to grieve and a time to dance.

A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.

A time to embrace and a time to turn away.

A time to search and a time to lose.

A time to keep and a time to throw away.

A time to tear and a time to mend.

A time to be quiet and a time to speak up.

A time to love and a time to hate.

A time for war and a time for peace."

I often wondered at the meaning of these words and found a suitable explanation of the first eight verses by Adam Clarke of God Vine.com

1] ‘God by his providence governs the world and has determined particular things and operations to specific times. In those times, such things may be done with propriety and success.

If we neglect the appointed seasons, we sin against this providence.’

2] ‘God has given humankind that portion of duration called Time.

Time is the space in which all the operations of nature, of animals, and intellectual beings, are carried on; but while life is steady in its course, and animals faithful to their instincts, people devote it to a great variety of purposes.

Very often humankind uses it for which God never made time, space, or opportunity.’

Humankind has no influence on the time of birth and the time of death. God continues to overrule by his providence.

Many people have waited their whole lives for the right time to do things. Will there ever be a correct time?

I quote the words of Neale Donald Walsch, author of many books and the famous book, ‘Conversations with God.’ Neale said, We often wait for the perfect moment, feeling or opportunity to take action. I am sleepy. If I start my essay now, it will probably be bad. Maybe I’ll do it tomorrow."

Since life is inherently imperfect, waiting often turns into procrastination. The right time might never come, but that is not a reason to do nothing. If you want to achieve a goal, do not wait. The best time for action is always now."

    LIFE AND DEATH

There is a time to be born and a time to die.

People have no control over Life and death.  We do not choose the family we are born into neither can we choose the place we are born. Whatever the circumstance, we are all born for a reason and we all have a purpose. Why are certain people born into squalor and poverty, and in the most horrific conditions?

Rick Warren said We are all spiritual beings having a human experience. Many people ask themselves, Why was I born? Maybe if we ask instead, What is my Life’s purpose?  we would find the answer.

According to Rick Warren, Life is preparation for Eternity. One day my heart is going to stop, and that will be the end of my body but not the end of me. I may live 60 to 100 years on earth, but I am going to spend trillions of years in eternity. Life is the warm-up act – the dress rehearsal.

When I started writing my biography, My Life as a Banker - A Life Worth Living, I saw my life unfold before me, and the puzzles all fall into place. It seemed that every step I took, seemed to be planned for me, and people were put in place to help me along the way.

I almost died at nine years of age of a ruptured appendix, but my father’s quick action saved me. The schools I attended, how I got my first job, my marriage, how my husband and I bought our first home, my healing from cancer, may all seem like simple things, yet the way these things happened, demonstrates that a higher power put these things in place as part of a plan. Later in this book, I will give specific details.

When I was born, two Canadian missionaries who were unable to have children approached my parents to adopt me. I was the eighth child, and they probably thought that my parents would have willingly given me away to them. My parents refused, and they had two more girls after me.  I was very lucky to have six sisters and three brothers.

I sometimes wonder what my life would have been like if my parents had agreed to give me to those Canadian Missionaries. I do not like to live in cold places, and I do not like snow.

I would have been very lonely and unhappy in Canada without my brothers and sisters.

When a baby is born, we experience such joy. When my son was born, in spite of the complications and pain I endured, when I saw his tiny body and handsome face I could not take my eyes off him as he lay in his glass cot next to me. He was perfect in every way. I kept counting his fingers and toes. I felt an instant bond of love when I saw him and thanked God for him.

My beautiful daughter was born two years later, and I had those same feelings for her. I think that to give birth is a miracle. Today my husband and I are blessed with four grandchildren whom we love with all our heart.

No one knows when death is going to
